Nobody likes how it ended but that's that. Let's try look on the bright side of what little we did get.

In the few games that we got to see, did some kid grab your attention, someone completely flying under your radar? Or someone you already sorta knew but who still impressed the heck out of you?

Connor Bedard tops my list. I knew he's been touted as the top prospect of his draft class but I didn't expect that kind of dominance on the ice. Those two games were truly an eye opener.

For me also Ville Koivunen and Samuel Helenius performed way better than I expected.

Didn't really have a chance to watch the games so I'd be interested to hear what unexpected talent people spotted in the teams. Your "new discoveries"?

- Detroit have hit the jackpot three years in a row with Edvinsson, Seider, and Raymond
-Ottawa’s decision to pass on Wallstedt for Boucher looks even worse now
-Connor Bédard, even in the Czech and Russia games, shows that he’s the heir to the generational talent throne (figure it’s been 8 years since McDavid so it’s a worth tag)

Thanks for making this thread. People were pretty raw about how the whole thing came down, but yes we did see some games and even if the statistics from those games are stripped (though IIHF will most likely keep them) we still saw the performances happen.

Just like at the U18’s, the stars of this tournament were the youngest. Bedard and Michkov both showcased what all the hype has been about. Even if you only have the second overall pick in the 2023 draft, you’d be feeling pretty happy.

The Finnish line with Koivunen, Helenius and Lambert was among the best in the young tourney.

For defenseman, Power, Edvinsson, and Sanderson all stuck out for me. Each of these guys seemed to have an ability to take command of the game.

Best goaltending performance I saw went to Florian Bugl of Germany in the game where he absolutely shut down Czechia.

Hopefully they can get this tournament scheduled in the summer so we can finish what we started!

Oil should've taken Walstedt (I like Xavier but this will haunt us)
Michkov is an absolute beast!
Germans are legit and play great hockey
Slovakia can win Gold next year
Jiricek looked legit! Sadly only 1 period
Svozil is a steal for 3rd round
Kulich is the real deal IMO and should be a first rounder
Don't go to wedding receptions during pandemics
Power is beautiful to watch on the point.. just beautiful
