What did we learn watching round 1?

As good as McCabe was I hated that he would get the puck. Stop and just turn around looking waiting to be swarmed.

All of our D had a very hard time moving the puck

His save percentage was 0.900

There is no stealing there. Vasi handed it to us is definitely closer to the truth.

Learned:

Hockey is chaotic. We lost badly to Tampa in expected goals for (by a lot), Corsi, etc. Stats would predict we would lose to Tampa but 3 OT goals saved us.

Great point.
Tons of big timely goals in the playoffs come from just firing pucks towards the net and funneling traffic there either for deflections, rebounds or even just to screen the goalie.

The past three playoffs we've struggled to score rebound goals (all situations)

In 2021 we scored 1 rebound goal for
In 2020 we scored 2 rebound goals for
In 2019 we scored 0 rebound goals for

THIS playoffs we have scored 4 and that matchs the eyetest of us putting more pucks on net with players causing more chaos in front.

I got one more, we can beat the cheaters at their homes. Mother f***ers should be scared cheating from now on.

TBH though Tampa is done, their core is already rusted and has nothing to offer other than a bunch of picks for their team if even that.

Stole is strong.
His save % was .900 and metrics were below average.

The fact that Boston also scored 6 rebound goals on Florida is encouraging. Their defense seems like a weak point so hopefully the Leafs forwards will cause all kinds of chaos there.

We need to play better

There goaltender gives up rebounds shot and go to the net

I have a problem that is only a problem in the playoffs.

I watch every game...eventually. Record every game, finish business and FF through the commercials.
Now that it is playoffs I watch live, and I too had no idea how many stupid gambling commercials there are.

If I never see Cabbie, Weekes or O'Toole again, that would be good..

Yep, I do the same all season but playoffs I have to watch live.
Although Saturday I have something I can't get out of so will tape.
 
Samsonov is a legit starting goalie.
Knies is a legit top 6 forward.
Holl playing every game shouldn't be automatic.
11-7 isn't necessarily a problem.
Tavares is still a great player.
Never count this team out of a game (it was 4-1).
Luck is still a thing.
Matthews can take over a game.
Face-offs are crazy important right now.
Rielly is the team's best defenceman.
The ROR/Acciari trade was the best deadline move.
The Jeannot trade was the worst trade ever.
The Panthers are no joke.

samsonov is pretty clutch
marner and Mathews came to play

where did Nylander go……he doesn’t like the rough stuff……and ”obviously” is the Leafs go to interview word Lol

It must be something taught in media training because they all do it.
