What d-man should be the Bruins top priority?

If Trouba becomes available I think he is the obvious answer, so leaving him out.

Perhaps Chevy and Trouba can't come to terms, Chevy gets spooked by the threat of an offer sheet and deals Trouba for a mid-range 1st and a couple 2nds. :sarcasm:

Sadly....I think they'd need to get two of the above....or two of that quality to become viable.

Yandle through free agency. Try to move up and draft Chychrun.

This would be the best way, give a 50point top2/3 puck mover in his prime and Chychrun to be put into 3rd pairing and let him develop.

1 D-player won't be enough to make us contenders and future leader for our blueline needs to be found.

Actually from what I've seen they should resign Liles , Stemp, and Ericsson and get rid of all D who can not make a pass or clear their zone. Hayes can go. CJ I don't care 1way or another although I hate his system and always playing undeserving vets over youngens. You only need look at Acciari and Vatrano and even Miller /Morrow to see what could have been to determine if CJ needs to stay or go.
Duffy in Mineville.

Chychrun would be awesome. I would rather run with Chiller instead of grabbing Yandle. Move Spooner+ for somebody who is more 2-way. Drop Connelly, Hayes, Rinaldo, etc. Look to grab some picks or decent prospects at the deadline with our aging vets. Play the kids.

It sounds good... but I HATE the idea of leaving the draft without having been able to move up and there are very few instances of team having ever been able to do what you are proposing.

I do think Yandle for free and keeping the picks for another move is smart... but if you think a Krejci for Shattenkirk trade is the right jolt to the core I can get behind that, too.

This is a pretty tough situation to be in, I guess we all agree on that, this defense next year as it is will only look worse and if Sweeney doesn't want to be a bottom10 team he HAS to be successfull one way or another, he has to find away.
I'd also be absolutely fine with Serg as a draft pick or Juolevi, right now looks they are in the 5-11 range, somewhere there and if we end up with the 14th pick it should be somewhat possible to move up and grab one of them.
Maybe look into New Jersey devils around 9 and give them 1st+ forward prospects/2nd, they probably want more offense.

The problem with Yandle though is that you have to be pretty damm sure you can sign him, at the time he can be signed the draft has gone away/the chances to land one of those D-players via trade.

And the Krejci problem is his trade protection and can you move him.
But if you can it needs to be thought of, we have Bergeron elite #1C but nothing on defense.

How about Alzner or Carlsson out of Washington after they underachieve in the playoffs and have cap problems? Wouldn't cost too much IMO.

Is Shatty signing an extension? Probably has to given what he'll cost. And if he doesn't that means we have to trade him at the deadline since 90% of this board thinks Sweeneely are idiots for not moving Loui for a 2nd and giving up.

I'll literally take anyone if Chara/Seids/Hayes are going the other way.

There's a guy in MOntreal sick of that fanbase who wouldn't mind playing with his brother I'd love to kick the tires on a monster trade there.

1. Adding a young, eventual Chara successor with number 1 potential.
2. Adding a power forward to the top 6. Our guys got pushed around too many times this year with absolutely no response whatsoever.

How about signing Lucic and trading for Hamilton? :sarcasm:

Who would you have in mind for a power forward? I think our offense will be filled from within the organization, maybe a center of Krejci is moved, so Backes?

I honestly don't even want Yandle. He's a left shot PP specialist. We have that in Krug, who's 6 years younger and not unrestricted.

I just want to see some focus on all around defenseman. The current blueline is built on one-dimensional talents.

Only way Yandle should be signed if it's to replace Krug if he's in a package for a #1
