I think they will look at what could be done in a trade for Marner, but will be disappointed by their options and Wille elect to keep him. They will most likely fire Keefe, possibly Shanahan too. If they are smart, they will bring in an old school hard ass coach who will make them sweat and make them win less in RS, but more in playoffs.

If not, they can keep threading water.

Would definitely want more from him at that cap hit and given his ability. It IS bad but not awful. Understandable imo with how sick I think he is.

I would think it will be a lame return. They’ll send him to Chicago or somewhere similar.

Perhaps if Carolina loses quickly too they might have a D to swap!

I picked Fire Keefe and Roll with the same team but new coach. If re-sign Domi and Bertuzzi and
re-sign Samsonov were options, I would have picked them as well as I think they'll all stick around and not resign.

He's a bit overpaid, but he'd also be Toronto's best defenseman, so... yeah.

Fire Shanahan, Fire Keefe, figure it out at the deadline. You won't get any reasonable value for Marner that won't backfire. Trading for someone like Seth Jones is just replacing one boat anchor with an older boat anchor. This is a mess that cannot be easily fixed.

If they feel he's not good in the playoffs, you take that chance. Who cares about 100 points in the regular season if you don't produce well when it matters.
