They will draft some players. They will sign some players. They trade some players. They will win more games than they lose and will make the playoffs.

Should I pay attention to something other than game 6 and 7? We know they will somehow make it 2-3 or 3-2 by game 5.

My Leaf fandom has come down to 2 or 3 days a year. FUN! What about you?

With all the epic collapses and heartbreak my regular season watching has slowly gone down hill, last season I watched about 15 games, season before about half, this coming season I'll probably watch a few saturday night games but it doesn't matter.

We know we perform well in the regular season, we know we will make the playoffs, so yes I am similar to you now, its all about the post season, game 4 and on.

We even have the major awards, even if Marner was in pursuit of the art ross it wouldn't entice me to watch, its all about that post season, its all about the cup.

No more excuses. Just make it happen. Conference final AT LEAST. Bare minimum to show we are truly on a good path here.

I'm not being sarcastic when I say this, but they are great to watch during the regular season. I've caught most games the past few years and outside of some embarrassing outings (that Canes game, the Sens & Panthers collapses) they are a great team and at the very least entertaining.

This year we also had the bonus of watching Matthews chase history, and even if he wasn't chasing 60 I would never forgive myself for not watching and appreciating the most talented player this franchise has ever seen.

The playoffs though, yeah, that's rough. Like a car wreck where you know the outcome but you hold out hope that by some miracle the collision will be avoided. And you're always wrong.

I'll always be interested. It feels like the easy playoff qualification and recent shortened seasons make the regular season seem too long. That stretch between the trade deadline and the playoffs where a playoff spot was already pretty much guaranteed seemed to last forever even with Matthews chasing 60 and 100. Fast playback is both a blessing and a curse: can see a nothing game quickly but also find yourself watching a game you should be enjoying on fast playback as well.

Sometimes I think I enjoy the draft to free agency period of the summer as much as any part of the regular season.

Matthews scoring 70 goals and the Leafs playing at the same 115 point level.

The team has a division title, they keep setting new highs for regular season point totals, Matthews is collecting all the hardware. I would like to see them win a presidents' trophy and set themselves apart from the rest of the league. Even if they are forever cursed come the post-season.

I am over 50 and have been a Leafs fan my entire life. I even endured the Ballard years and never gave up hope, but the loss to Montreal broke me (not just that they lost, but how they lost and who they lost to). This past season I didn't watch a single regular season game. Several times I recorded the 'game in an hour' broadcast but never watched more than five minutes of one. I started watching at the start of the playoffs and saw the same old result.

This coming year depends entirely on what they do this off-season - who they bring in as goalies, who they sign, who they trade away. If those moves give me hope I will watch the regular season again. If they do not, I won't watch next year either and don't know if I will watch the playoffs, but doubt that I will bother until they get out of the first round.

They just broke me, and they are going to have to regain my fandom.

So you will be happy with meaningless shit? Regular season points, personal trophies, and the President's Trophy don't mean shit. They just don't. That those matter to you is sad, especially as you would be happy with them despite continued playoff failures. Seriously, WTF is wrong with you? Your priorities are seriously screwed up.

Matthews, and potential consequences for our management if they can't get it done again.

I love hockey and watching the Leafs so I'll enjoy that coming back. Matthews/Marner are always a treat as well

But with it all it'll have the caveat of not meaning a thing until the 4th game of a series has been won. Hilariously, the first 3 wins of a series don't mean anything anymore. So I look forward to us (hopefully) getting that done and moving on

Right now, I'm just looking forward to the offseason as a whole and all of the new faces that will be joining the team throughout.

First and all as an ice hockey fan: Watching my team play good to great hockey.

And witnessing Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. The development of Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren.

So you are content with more post season failure

A bit harsh but I agree about the MTL loss, unless this core wins a cup I can’t ever forgive them for that.

I don’t actually think the reg season accomplishments are worthless but we saw the noteworthy ones last year already (team points and the Matthews goals)

Although I’m always ready to watch hockey again when each fall rolls around, it’s hard to be anything more than casually interested.

Last year I only missed handful of games. I won't be watching that many games this year.

This team honestly has taken the taste out of the game for me. You can only give them benefit of the doubt for so long

I have seen everything to be needed to be seen. Matthews scoring 60 goals Marner getting his points. Beating up Sens and Habs 6-0 really not fun

Literally every Leafs fan I know in real life, who vary from fairly casual to people who would historically have watched ~30-50+ games a season and followed all trades/draft picks, barely watched (ie fewer than 3 games) or didn't watch the regular season at all last year.

The Montreal loss, after all the previous losses, the David Ayres game, not having won a series for 15+ years, etc, was a big turning point I think for a lot of fans. The Leafs sort of have to prove they're worth people's time, money, emotional effort, etc at this point.

Tavares being the exact same speed he’s been since junior and people saying ”does he look slower“ after a five game scoring drought.

That and a new goal song.

I have watched them lose the last 7 years in the first round. I think it is hard in modern society with social media and everything else for a group of any individuals to play in a playoff style format in front of this many hardcore fans. The Leafs have had the horses to do it, they just can't jump that mental hurdle. They simply can't do it, whether they're up 3-1 or down 3-1 in the series, they will lose in 7 games.

I for one don't care how they do in the post-season anymore, I'll watch and cheer. But, that big market pressure is going to wash them out in series #1. If they were in Florida or Minnesota with this team they would have gotten over the hump. This is a much tougher part of the jungle.

So, I've chosen to focus on something they can accomplish. They are a good regular season team. There isn't much pressure then. So, before they break up the band I'd like a presidents' trophy to add to the collection.

Liljegren proving himself as the best RHD on the team and arguably best dman overall. If you gave him powerplay time last year he probably would have had a 30-35 point rookie season while being the best analytics defenseman on the team.

I kinda of agree with your sentiment here in principle because Leafs failure in the playoffs has virtually made the NHL regular season meaningless.

It doesn't matter if Leafs are breaking personal best records or the favourite or the underdog with or without home ice advantage they always find new a creative ways to lose in round #1.

So as long as the Leafs make the playoffs which means finishing in the top 8 in the East and with 3 X $11 mil players that is all but certain to buy you a spot into the playoffs.

All that matters now is the playoffs, so you wish you could fast forward though the regular season and get right down to those magical 7 max potential playoff games, and this is coming from someone that buys the NHL Centre Ice package and religiously watches every Leafs game from start to finish.

I'm looking forward to not being so negative/not being so down on this MGMT group.

I love the Leafs, but not winning in the playoffs makes me care less.

I am looking forward to a new element in our top 6.

New goaltending maybe?

Looking forward to seeing the players they drafted or signed as free agent prospects make the team.

I'll probably record the games and watch some of them.

They really are not one of my favorite versions of the team.

Seems more like a collection of talents than a team.

Sandin and Liljegren clearly establishing themselves as top 4 defenseman.

Some Marlies stepping up and taking roster spots, especially Curtis Douglas developing further to become our 4th line center.

Engval get a chip on his shoulder and develop some meanness (so tired of watching someone so big and strong play so timidly).

A heavy, good on the boards and cycle LW for JT.

Playoff success
