That's clearly the Los Lobos version from the film La Bamba (1987), even though the uploader claims otherwise.

Thanks for catching that. I think the Los Lobos version is better with the quicker pace and tremelo strumming, though. I think it's also the version the Oilers play after home victories.

Nitpicker that I am, I just couldn't let it go...

I have no big stance regarding the two versions, but I heard the Ritchie Valens version first when I was a kid (late '70s or early '80s), so it feels more 'familiar' to me. But if I'd take the nostalgia factor out of it, you're probably right.
