What a Season!

It's always disappointing to see it end, but I think major steps forward were made. We may have won the Presidents trophy, but as Arny said, Dallas was right there with us all season, then made the huge acquisitions. Winning in the playoffs is a step by step process and Dallas has paid their dues in recent years having been to the western final 3 years in a row, and the SCF final in 2020. Mostly I wanted to see progress and we certainly saw that. This Jets team went down fighting as opposed to most other seasons with a whimper.
Great points here, the series against Vegas in 18 was going out weakly, this loss against Dallas had a higher degree of pushback. I think winning game 5 was pretty valuable for us.

Great regular season, might not see that again for a long time and i'm very glad i got to see it. NHL and the officiating in the playoffs can go shit in their hats . Never thought i would see the day that you can hack at a ref with your stick because you are mad about a missed call and get absolutely nothing, no penalty at all. Then your team's best player can get sucker punched and you end up shorthanded.Go Jets Go .

Also we learned that you can propel a puck into the net. Nothing like a league rewriting rules on the fly.

With all the accomplishments team and individuals.

This team was tight knit , more than i believe of any other Jets team incarnation. Obviously we are not in the lockers but you see it on them.

What happened to today was tragic , and how the team pulled through even with a lost. Im pretty sure they grow more tightly next season.
They just need to exorcise that road demon. But the push back game 6, is a very big start going into next year.

Go Jets Go

When the season started, people were expecting us to win one game in the playoffs, if that, and be crushed like an egg. To do what we did in spite of the adversity (not just injuries but the most bizarre case of Imploding Referee Syndrome I've ever seen) says a lot.

And now we've had our first full year under our new coach, and had the second-best playoff run (and arguably best overall year) in 2.0 history. And we're gonna keep building.

As pessimistic as I am about Ehlers being signed, I was pessimistic about Bucky and Scheif being signed, so I'm ready for Chevy to get back to cooking in the off-season.

Said this in the other thread, the President's trophy thing was a nice accomplishment, but now the itch has been scratched. Stay healthy, stay fresh, and get in is next year's motto.

I'm not even worried about home ice. Until this year you would have argued we sucked there too, so next year we become road warriors.

In retrospect everything came down to a few minutes in Game 1 where things briefly went off the rails and home-ice advantage was lost. Otherwise I don’t feel there’s much to complain about: there were two evenly-matched teams and the wrong one lost. Thankfully, Hellebuyck won’t feel as much pressure next year after playing just fine and netting two shutouts in the Dallas series.

Well it’s all been said, but what a fantastic season! It’s been wonderful to interact with everyone here all season and I look forward to seeing what next year holds. This year has been the most fun watching hockey that I can remember.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and look back on this season as a successful one with lots of great memories.

WHAT a season! The streak, the trophy, the satisfying poundings we gave some deserving teams, the OT wins... SO much fun! I said more than once during the regular season, a playoff run would be nice but no mater what happens, I could not reasonably ask for more than this team gave me this year. Well done, team! And thanks as always to this group here who make it just that much more enjoyable! Have a great summer guys! Cheers! (oh and, GO BLUE!!)

Very different exit to the past few years. The jets clearly belong in the top 8, and made a solid case for making the top 4. If we can find an offensive 2C in the off-season, and make sure we get a winger so a series is never on Appleton's stick again, we got a really good shot at winning this thing next year. Hope Morrissey is ok.

Exactly, I don’t blame Helle at all for how the Dallas series went. Our group just couldn’t score on the road.

For the first time in probably half a decade I'm not pissed off with how the season ended.

The boys laid it all on the line all year. The process is right for this group now.

The only concerns I have is did they learn all this too late. But we have all of next season to figure that out and I look forward to that journey.

The Jets were fun to watch, and they didn't collapse in the playoffs like past years.

We took down the hottest team heading into the playoffs - they had the best record of any team in the league after the 4 Nation's Cup break (.781), best goal differential over that period and a tonne of momentum. They injured several of our players and we still came out on top.

We saw lots of player growth, saw Helle finally settle down in the playoffs, and I'm confident that this experience will help future runs. It was a tough ending, we were SO close to continuing.

Exactly... but as for timing, I will add that this group can teach the youngsters, and now we have a core with tons of experience.

True and both Cole and Snerg showed the ability to elevate in the playoffs. I am not worried about either as post seaspn players going forward. But we need more players capable of stepping in and contributing. Vilardi may or may not still be injured but he's the one that needs to hit another level in the post season.

Hopefully we have some of our prospects that can step and and also contribute next season.

I could finally get some sleep over it. If you had told me the outcome at the start of the season, I would have signed immediately. Nevertheless, when you are close to glory, you wonder, what if the hockey gods had been on our side? Could we have made it to the next round? And possibly even further?

On the other hand, I have a great sense of pride in my heart. The players fought, battled, gave their all on the ice. They are warriors on the ice and most come across as genuine and good-hearted people off the rink.

I can identify with them very much. Mutual values are important to me. The Winnipeg Jets are more than just an organization. They are a community, a way of life.

I'll always wear the Jets logo with pride.

Confounding, confusing and crappy
I imagine it would have only gotten worse as the steaks got higher.
Next season is only a few months away !

The one thing I appreciated the most about this team is their resilience.

During the season, as in life, bad things happened.

This team never felt sorry for themselves or adopted a victim mentality.

They sucked it up and found a way to push forward winning a President's Trophy and a Game 7 miracle win.

They'll be back better next season.

I've often said there is a huge difference between acknowledging / accepting variance and using it as an excuse. We can (and absolutely should) do the former, and not succumb to the latter. And for my money, that's exactly what we did.

Jesus i almost forgot about that one, there were so many bad, missed and goofy calls during these playoffs i almost forgot about that one.
And don't forgot last night's game Marchment got a warning for leaving his feet on a hit to the back of Scheifele and then does it again the next period. I hate pointing out the officiating but its true why do certain teams get the calls and over a few games the calls should even out right?
The Stars benefited from officiating in the Avs series too .Bednar even complained about it ... remember the cross check to MacKinnon on the back of the head ... how do you miss that call to a star player?
Three things need to go right for you in the playoffs to win ... bounces, injuries and officiating.
You can handle the officiating with good special teams unfortunately the special teams did not come through for the Jets.

Sorry, but Cup or bust. Seeing that President's Trophy banner in the building will bring up game 7 magic for most, but for me it's a reminder of how bad we were most games this postseason. Perfetti's goal is like Bautista's batflip: meaningless. I realize I'm more negative than most on here, so I will end with something we can all agree on: Scheifele brought out the best in sportsmanship in the absolute worst of circumstances. RIP Brad; I know you'd have been real proud.

Cup or bust is just setting yourself up for disappointment - and probably endless disappointment. The Cup must be the goal, IMO, but demanding that goal be met is toxic.

It was a great year all in all. This post season did have it's incredible moments and disappointments but we are heading in the right direction. Hopefully the management team has noted the areas we need improvement in and will be committed to making those improvements for next year. We have the potential to be right back here again next season so it's on them to get us there. The expectations will now be much higher and hopefully everyone is on the same page.

I'm already starting to temper my expectations for next year.
It will be tough to match this season.
