Everyone still keeps saying "west was too dominant, the real SCF was the kings/blackhawks".

I know it shouldn't bother me, but I keep thinking to myself "how stupid can these people be?"...did no one watch the games? Did everyone just see "kings win in 5" and make assumptions? I'm at a loss here. I care, because I want my team to get the recognition it deserves.

Kings were better but they weren't THAT much better. It's amazing how the human mind works, though, isn't it? The power of suggestion is an amazing thing. EVERYONE kept hyping up how "west is best" and despite WATCHING the Rangers go neck and neck with L.A. people STILL cling to the notion that the series was a blowout because that's what they were told it was going to be beforehand.

:shakehead

They read it on the internet, so it must be true.

Yes. Very much yes.

The only alternative is that they have a very thin grasp upon reality.

It hurts to watch this again. Zucc does NOTHING but skate forward. His leg does not move an inch to the side. Not only is this not a penalty on Zucc, it is a clear tripping from Muzzin and definetely should have been a penalty on him, not Zucc. It is an intentional professional foul by Muzzin to 1) keep the puck in the Ranger´s zone and 2) stop Zucc from going on a rush. And not only that, Muzzin takes a huge dive and over plays it big time. Look at how Zucc falls and how Muzzin falls. Zucc falls naturaly after being tripped, Muzzin looks like somebody shot him in the back. You can even argue that the trip is a potential dangerous knee-on-knee.

Arguably one of the worst calls in the whole post season against the Rangers, and without a doubt changed the momentum of the game to the favor of the Kings.

It hurts, but it's also a reason for pride. The fact that we can look at such specific instances really illustrates how close the series actually was.

Agree. Either you win the cup or you lose it. As Zucc said to the norwegian media after the loss; It´s about winning the cup. If you lose 1-4 or 3-4 doesn´t matter. The dissapointment is the same. They played a very good series, but unfortunately had som very unlucky bounces and som brutal calls from the referees at critical moments in the games. That´s the fact, and when they get over the loss in a few days and weeks, they can look back to the post season with pride.

I think the window is closing, but they have a crack next year if they add the right players. They need to tweak the roster, but they certainly have as good a chance as anyone in the East.

I don´t really understand the pessimism amongst people. Of course will have good chances to get to the final again the coming years. Think about how close they were to the cup, despite their star players producing way less than they should. Just imagine players like Nash, Richards and MSL producing what they should, about 1 point/game.....

Rangers need a consistent goal scorer. That is a fact. And I expect players like Zucc, Kreider and the rest to spend the summer with hours and hours practicing finishing.

And the team has Lundqvist. He will lift he cup for the Rangers. I just know it.

Yeah I was cheering right there! Like finally getting a break from the Kings putting on a enormous pressure at that time, coming back from the TV timeout realising the call was on Zucc:shakehead

I was actually listening to the radio at that point and Maloney was flipping out on this call. He was livid. It's pretty clear why.

I want everyone to see what this guy is saying about the Rangers. How off base he is, just like he was with his other articles. This guy probably couldn't cut it on Bleacher Report.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/final-thoughts-from-the-stanley-cup-final-it-wasnt-even-close/

Is he that desperate for hits? Each article was terribly off-based. You could find about 100 users here who could do his job better.

Edit: Some guy actually called Lundqvist, Flukeqvist in the comment section. Lol. That's a new one.

Agree that the guy is an idiot. It's amazing to read what others say about a franchise based on popular opinion rather than facts. Case in point is that the Jackets are very much pleased to have Dubi, Arty, et al from the Nash trade and Johnson instead of Carter has made the Jackets a better team. Their instincts didn't lead them to take Brule it was their idiotic GM who overruled the scouts who wanted Kopitar.

As far as the Rangers go they played the Kings as well as any of the West teams. With better refereeing it should be 3-2 Rangers and with better ice 3-2 Kings. Maybe the Rangers aren't as physical as the Westies but they sure as heck were in every game.

Oh stop whining about the refs. The Zucc penalty wasn't that bad, they both had their legs out and got hooked up, but the LA player had the puck and was on the attack.

The refs gave us two powerplays in OT, also questionable seen through LA goggles.

We had tons of chances, hitting posts, missing open nets. We lost because they are bigger and way more physical. Period.

In fact some LA players said this was the easiest series when it comes to physical play.

Something for Slats to think about...

“I don’t want to say this series was the easiest, but it was the least physically demanding without a doubt,” said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. “The other series were more physical and tougher on the body. It was still a good series, but the other ones were tougher.”

Ken Campbell's articles make me bulimic.

He might actually have a negative IQ.

“I don’t want to say this series was the easiest, but it was the least physically demanding without a doubt,†said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. “The other series were more physical and tougher on the body. It was still a good series, but the other ones were tougher.â€

Classy. Kings are not a likable team, at least I could have stomached being defeated by the Blackhawks.

This is pretty low. I hate that Kings team. :thumbd:

Why are we hating on Doughty for being honest? Very few Rangers finish their checks and when they do their not exactly bone crushing. Outside of a few players, and a few hits all series, the Kings had their way with the Rangers physically. Kings are size, Rangers are speed. The Rangers aren't a small team overall, but they don't play very big.

It's not about honesty, it's about class. You just won the cup, no need to talk about the short comings of the team you just beat.
