Since there is a break. Thought a look at the standings would be fun.

Biggest surprise is the Stars as I expected them at the top of the standings. Kings are having a great run. Oilers are about where I'd want them. I don't see this changing too much before the playoffs to be honest. Same 8 teams but maybe different spots. Maybe Utah rises up?

They do also have the Sharks, the Blackhawks, the Ducks and the Predators.

In fact, 5 of the worst 7 teams by winning percentage are in the West.
7 is a weird number to stop at.

The margins by which they are the worst are more important to me than the fact they are bottom 7 anyway. I don’t know what they are though. I’ll look into it in a little while.

One more thing to consider if the best teams are in the west, of course the worst teams are also there. They play each other more right?

Overall it’s tough to say which conference is better from those stats. Probably best to just look at conference v conference to decide which is best. Even that probably doesn’t say too much alone.

At the start of the season those were the teams 90% of people would've took to make the playoffs in the west so no real surprises outside Nashville. Utah is probably the only team I can see making a run at it if one of the top 8 guys falter.

Most people had Nashville in there. Even if Nashville scored at league average, they'd still be below .500, and this is while receiving great goaltending. If both their scoring and goaltending were just average, they'd still be a bottom 10 in the league team this year.

I could see both Utah and the Flames making it.

At some point you think the Flames will start to play Dustin Wolf’s .910 106 point pace, over Vladars .886 82 point pace, more than half the time.

Kings, Nucks or Stars could fall out

The discussion happens every year and it's always a pointless exercise.
