I'll give Clark credit.

He's got confidence. This is the third year in a row he reached. I've obviously never seen Danford play.

But he sure fits the profile I was hoping for.

At this point I'll give Clark the benefit of doubt. He made a couple nice picks in Cowan and Minten. No reason to think he didn't do the same here.

God knows I couldn't do any better.

I'm happy with Clark's performance so far. This was a good appointment by Dubas. Assigning Clark head of amateur scouting might prove to be the best thing Dubas did during his tenure here.

Depending on if any of his picks actually make the NHL that is.

I think most people who watched Danford play in 2024 would say at the very least that he stood out. Those who watched the OHL playoffs even more so.

So far so good

Cowan looks like a steal

Minten made of the team out of camp last year

There is a reason I'm not critical of the Ben Danford pick.

There is also a reason I don't like the trade that was made with Florida.

Hopefully Clark can find a late round gem today

based on his track record I have confidence he can

I think it's only a matter of time until Clark joins Dubas in Pittsburgh.

Those were a couple pretty big reaches he made. Takes some real balls to do that twice. Makes me think Clark is just another executive with a "smartest guy in the room" attitude.

Because trying to beat the market is usually a fools game.

I believe in the free market. And the NHL draft is as laissez-faire as it gets. Minten and Cowen weren't undervalued.

They were drafted at the exact place they should have been drafted.

At the point when someone was willing to draft them. In this case, Wesley Clark. We'll see soon enough if Clark is the Warren Buffet of the NHL draft I guess.

If he's still with this team, or not, is another question altogether.
what a call!

Wait where the notification he left?
Also how was he allowed to draft for us and then ditch us? Lol

Edit: I see it now.

I think this is a big loss, that sucks.

I thought he did well overall considering that we were never picking in the top 15 and seems like he hit on some later round picks.

Just as I was starting to like Clark too.

Dubas also hired Mann. Earlier in this thread I suggested him as someone the Leafs could take a look at. Dubas is making some good moves in Pittsburgh.

Which makes me wonder if the problem really was Shanahan this whole time.

It’s a divorce and both parties are fighting over the kids (middle management). It’s not that special.
