Rumor: Werenski, CBJ to Meet about Future After the Draft

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I would be genuinely pissed if we were moving on from Marchenko.

We had the opportunity to lock him down 2 years ago and didn’t do it.

We can lock him down in a week long term, and we are probably going to f*** around about how “we have plenty of time” or some crap like that.
Seperate discussion on Marchenko but I question his ability when he's "the guy".

We either need to acquire someone more talented than him to take pressure off or move on IMO. I just don't see him as the superstar guy on a legit playoff team.

Exactly how I feel. I think he’s a nice complement piece alongside a star player but not the star.

Just hoping Z is going to repeat himself and say he'll only commit to Columbus only if they get better. Teams who missed the playoffs already getting better(Tkachuk and Kyrou trades). Werenski might think the news of Jenner and Marchment hitting the market as a step back for the organization and wants to know exactly what Waddell is trying to do to improve the team.

Also if he wanted out, wouldn't it be better to have a quick meeting before the draft and not after?

Or maybe he's going to ask if they would have interest in Larkin and should he nag Larkin to put Columbus on his list of approved teams :sarcasm:
But the issue is will guys waive for a trade here without even some sort of commitment from Z?

How hard it is he lobbying for people to come here to play with him? If he does commit to Columbus, is he going to convince others to come play with him?

This mythical Team USA group chat can go both ways.

True.. Z might have 2 more years but if they don't improve he could either leave as a UFA after those 2 years or ask for a trade. But with how things are, those players might ask for a trade soon after lol. You can't promise every player but maybe they tell Larkin, try winning with Columbus with one of your best friends. If it doesn't work out and Z won't extend, we'll trade you if you want out. Maybe a contender will over pay for Larkin in hopes of recruiting Z when he hits the market.

Why would Seth waive his NMC to come back to Columbus after he won a cup with Florida?

yeah, I also failed to realize SJ has a cap hit of almost 10 mil. per year… that’s… crazy. even with a rising cap.
