Dead serious. Brian Burke once said they will counter offer any rfa offer sheets. Dustin Penner gets an offer sheet and the
Exact opposite happens. Burke was bluffing thinking his words were good enough to scare other gms from throwing an offer sheet, Kevin Lowe offer sheeted Burke. He didn’t match.

So anything can happen.

Bruke lives to shoot his mouth off and we have him the biggest stage in hockey to do it. No wonder any news doesn't get leaked because Burke would tell us half was fake news half was real stories.

I went with Option 2. I think if they offered another couple million more the Canes wouldn't have matched it. The deal was a lowball thing from the Canadiens IMO.
