We're in the playoffs *****es!

Welp, our first goal of the season has been accomplished and we're winning games in more ways than last year. Lots of reasons to be optimistic again but all I really ask for is that the Kings make the other team beat them with flawless play.

Because one of those games is against Detroit. Dallas can still catch us, but to do so they would have to beat Detroit meaning the Red Wings could get at most 54 points. Since Columbus can't catch us, we've clinched.

GKG! A repeat would be so sweet. Quick is rounding into form i like our chances against any team, if we only had Mitchell in the lineup.

We aren't as good at this point as we were last season but we still look dangerous. I like our team and think that we have a shot at this thing but it is going to take our elevating our game allot for us to repeat.

That said I think we can do it and GO KINGS GO!!!! GO KINGS GO!!!! GO KINGS GO!!!!
 
4th straight season in the playoffs.

Last time we did that was during the Gretzky era when there was only 24 teams in the league.

How don't we? I think we are 22-9-3 in the last 34 games, Quick's been pretty much great the last 5-10 games, we're playing pretty good. I'm just as happy this season at this time as I was last season at this time.

I have yet to see us put together a stretch of games where we were capable of playing a frustratingly brand of shutdown hockey like we did last season. Sure missing Willie and MG are contributing factors as is having to rely on their replacements but that being said I am still not seeing that killer instinct where we simply dominate the game by playing that frustrating shutdown hockey.

Doesn't mean that we won't start doing allot better at it now that MG is back or that we will simply because it is the playoffs and we have several players who always elevate their games when the PO's come around.

From 2011 on through all of last season I said that I thought we would win the cup or at the very least go very far doing "serious damage". I still see us as being a true threat to repeat and believe in the team but until we start dominating defencively I am going to be a little nervous.

We looked allot better going into last years playoffs to me but that doesn't mean that we don't look scary this year. Either way I can't wait to see the playoffs start. I think we will do great.

I believe in this team, we can do it!


GO KINGS GO!!!!
 
By the time the playoffs end we will all look like tom hanks in castaway.

I agree with you. The results are there, but the eyeball test is a little deceiving. That being said, the Kings have allowed 6 goals in their last 4 games after the Dallas 3rd period meltdown. I'd like to see them finish the last 4 games strong and not allow more than 2 goals in any of them. Would be a good sign of the team ratcheting up the defense. The boys have been lights out on the PK since RR came aboard so that is a great indicator.

I agree. I am very interested to see us gel now that MG is back. His on ice game aside MG brings so much to the team that it will be fun to watch them come together for the run. At the very least our D will be balanced for the first time this season (sah/pmd).

We could finish putting it together and be just fine. Even if we don't get back our dominating D game we still will be good enough to beat most teams when we put our minds to it.
