Post-Game Talk: Well we knew it would be a slog

That is absolutely on Bouchard.
100%
There are no black and white scenarios about how the D is to respond to maintain containment.
Bouchard has to have better situational awarenees there. Full stop.

He isnt alone either. The skaters need to improve their reads because the amount of breakaways the team gave up (due to not recognizoing Floridas anticiapting forwards) simply cant continue.
That loss was completely on the poor team defence.
Disagree, Drai had a better angle. After that bounce Bouchard was out of the play.

2OT was a clusterf*** of mistakes by both teams and we just got burned first. We gave that game away in the 2nd, with our best players on the ice

I'm sorry, but I find it really hard to buy that Stu isn't at fault, at all, for the goal and it's a "1 out of 1000" stroke of bad luck. This is getting ridiculous now.
Of course he's at fault he let it in. But broken plays like that can often lead to very strange fluke goals and that's what I consider that. Like I said it's really hard for the goalie to read a break away when the guy is getting his stick tied up and then it comes loose at the last second.

Anyways that enough discussion on this topic. Both games have been excellent hockey. Being up 2-0 would be nice, but 1-1 is still a very comfortable place to be, and Edmonton's finishing hasn't matched their scoring chance generation yet so there should be belief that they can find the back of the net more going forward. Bob's been good, but the Oilers have had more than enough clean looks with Bob sliding on his belly to have 5 or 6 goals in each of these games.

Yeah. Its mind numbing. Blame the very players, McD, Drai, Booch that got us here and are leading the playoffs in production. Produce more you hacks! ;)

Like I said this is the mental gymnastics that occur to absolve Skinner.
Fact of the matter is without Hyman we have about 5 forwards that can produce appreciably and one of those is Cory Perry who is over performing. This was never a deep forward lineup in terms of production. We could use some more saves.

I honestly wonder on what planet you watch hockey sometimes?

The Bennet and Jones goal were unstoppable, much like McDavids set up to Drai. No chance for any goalie.

Then there's a breakaway and Bouchards own goal that was going wide

Yet Bobrovsky let's in 2 absolute stinkers. He overplayed Kanes goal and he DIDNT even MOVE on Bouchards. He had no clue what happened.

Yet you shit all over Skinner while pumping the other team . Like what do you watch sometimes?

Did you not see the handful of big saves Skinner made to keep them in it?

Buzz, buzz, buzz

Did you not see the biggest opportunity for a save in double OT on a non-shot, that he didn’t save? That was on planet earth.

Its possible I need to look at the goal again...I am open to that.
Are you talking about the initial bouce off of the back wall?

Regarding the 2nd O/T...fatigue seemd to be a big issue for both teams although it seemed to me that the Oilers seemed to be fighting fatigue in the 2nd period as well.

Seen that goal go in 1000x in the NHL. He played Marchands stick and Drai impeded.

Had Drai not been there, he likely saves it.

Bad luck. No need to act like he did or played it egregiously

Both of Bob's goals were 100x worse

Have we even lost a game where Skinner had a higher SV% than the other goalie? Surely we’re undefeated.

Every finals game Skinner has ever played in where he had a positive GSAx, the Oilers have won, and every game he had a negative GSAx, the Oilers have lost. We go as Skinner goes. If he stops the shots he is supposed to, we win.

I thought this the entire game. Looked tired. Also worry about the workload on Stu at this point again. Mental and physical.

The team fatigue is weird thing to watch.
However I didnt see much of anything that concerned me about Stu the last couple of games.

Checking the schedule (assuming my math is right)...starting on the day of the first game he played in the playoffs...on Friday Skinner played his 12th game of the playoffs in just under 50 days.
In the regular season he played 51 games but only played 4 games in the last month of the season.

So in the last (approx) 2.5 calendar months he has only played 16 games.
He really shouldnt be tired at all.

I think this team has played their best hockey on the road. Seem more poised and structured. At home they gotta score goals and damn everything else. And this might not be popular but Bouchard is slow and quits on plays. He seems to be out there a lot when other teams get breakaways.

This is a fair point Bob had let in some bad goals. I mean that Bouchard wrist shot essentially from the point we'd be rioting if it was skinner. Even the Perry goal you can't let that in last minute of the game.

If anything the guy is highly beatable we know that from the last 2 finals going back to Vegas.

Win game 3 and have 2 days of extra rest will be huge for us.

Stu should have had it, no discussion. He made the same move as with Marchands shortie in the second period. Marchand also did the same move. If i t wasn't for Draisaitl interrupting. The goals would have been identical.

Cleary Panthers has scouted Stu on breakaways and sees that he ALWAYS SLIDES and leaves the five hole open.

Bouchards goal was a crazy rebound any goalie would have hard to predict....
