Post-Game Talk: Well we knew it would be a slog

based on the fact that series are all about momentum and Florida has all the momentum now. Winning a big 2OT game, getting to come home in a building.
The fact that Edmonton is 4-9in the McDavid era in Sunrise. (2-5 in the past 3 years). We don’t play well in that building. The fact that our special teams are a problem, Florida has a great PK and PP.
The fact that the magic has work off our depth.

Now this team has shown that it can flip a switch. I mean technically best case is coming back with 2 wins but I think the chances of that are near nothing. The hope is a split but most likely is losing both.
That O/T loss in game 2 was no more devesatating than the loss to Vegas (an own goal) with less than a second on the game clock.

In any event if you have been invested in the games so far then you know for sure that this team thrives on adversity.
There is literally no evidence at all that suggests that adversity will be their downfall.

Florida hasnt seen a team at the level of the Oilers so far.

You have a whole lot of doom and gloom predictions but the problem is you have little to no substance to support them.
It only took 1 double O/T loss for you to get to this place as well.
That says something.
Both teams are at their best right now. It is going to be a dogfight.

You have got to be f***ing kidding me. If anything Florida underestimated the Leafs. In this series both teams respect the hell out of the other team. Yes their series went 7 games but there were at least 2 blowouts in that series including game 7. This series is all of 2 games deep and the first 2 games needed OT to decide them. This is as close as a series can possibly get through 2 games. There is still an entire story to be written here so keep this kind of crap to a minimum please.
The first 2 games were close in Toronto but Toronto had good leads in both.
Yea there were a few blowouts later in the series but we have time for that still.

Yes the first 2 games needed OT but Florida wasn’t really playing their game. They started a bit more in game 2 and our physicality vanished. Floridas hard hitting style is already showing signs of wearing down our guys and we are starting to let up on hits.

If we still had Hyman I think we could do this but we don’t have the players to make up for it in a series.

Add to the fact that the refs won’t call anything after the second?

Again maybe credit the Oilers for Florida not having their way? We are built more for a 7 game series against Florida than the Leafs were. This won't be a cakewalk for either team.

100%
Every game is going to be a dogfight. This series is just so close.
In terms of drama and entertainment...what could be better than this?
I just hope that at the end of it we are hoisting the cup. Otherwise it will feel like a gigantic kick to the balls.

Not a cake walk but I think Florida hands us our lunch in both home games and we force a game 6. But then Florida wins it at home again.
This teams depth is a mirage.

All of this from an O/T loss in game 2?
A series where in the first 2 games the Oilers were the better team for the majority of the time?

I've seen proclivities for a negative bias but this is on another level.

Dude...you need to take a break.

Well aren't you full of heart warming takes today? We were one goal away from a 2-0 series lead. Had we scored last night in OT would you be saying that Florida would win the next 4?
no, I’d say Florida at minimum would even it out 2-2 and then we have a 3 game series that we had a chance in. I just don’t see Florida losing games 3/4 with how we are built.

The bottom six and even the entirety of the D corps don't get it.

Watch the third and the OT periods. Florida is holding and doing interference plays that would be penalized in the regular season. They do it, they get away with it. So they keep doing it.

Yet the Oilers bottom six and D isn't holding and doing interference plays that are clearly being let go. Are they collectively stupid?

If they don't pick up the subtleties of the officiating standards by next game the Oil are lost.

The bottom 6 right now does nothing but lose puck battles with the odd play where Podkolzin and Arvidsson skate fast
