Post-Game Talk: Well we knew it would be a slog

A bad bounce off the boards 9/10 that puck makes it to Bouchard at the point.

It hit the stantchen and bounced right to Florida player. Marchand was flying the zone and Leon did everything right.

Can’t even blame skinner it was a very lucky swipe through his legs. Regroup and come out on Monday continuing to play the same game as games 1/2.

This series is as even as any I have ever seen.
100%- Marchand actually tried something similar on the PK in game 1. Nuge had the puck up high, the panthers pressured him and Marchand started flying the zone hoping for a breakaway. In that game, Nuge got the puck deep, Marchand was caught out of position, and we ended up with a 2 on 1 down low which won us the game. Tonight Marchand tried a very similar thing, but got the bounce and the breakaway. Shit happens, it's a best of 7. This Oilers team yet again showed that they're damn near impossible to shut down in big moments. Every series there has been some kind of adversity. In the LA series, we came storming back in game 1, then lost with less than a minute left on a brutal goal. In the Vegas series, we lost game 3 with less than a second left. In the Dallas series, we were completely dominating game 1 and had a full on meltdown. This team has earned some confidence and belief from everyone. I expect them to keep getting better as the series goes along.

f*** that was the biggest load of shit game I've ever watched. That too many men is as automatic as a puck over the glass. Not to mention the two high sticks that we end up getting a penalty on on one of them. The clear as day hold on I think it was Kane's f***ing blade. Give me a break. Three goals this series the refs and league have given these mother f***ers. I'm done with this league after this win or lose. This is absolute bullshit. Florida should have had at least twenty penalties in regulation alone. Whatever happened to the obstruction penalties? Jesus Christ. Love how the f***ing retaliation calls only go one f***ing way.

And get Frederic the f*** in to the press box and put a f***ing 4 time 30 goal scorer in there are you f***ing dense Knob? The guy has a goal and an assist in two games this playoffs, Frederic kills plays every chance he gets. What the f*** was that 2 on 1? Holy Christ, complete bum stain.

Brown hasn’t looked the same since the concussion, usually has the wheels.
Yeah. As much as our forward depth group have played as well as they possibly can we have a lot of guys there that may have emptied the tank already, or most of it. That said guys like Perry keep surprising.

Its noteworthy too how much we've needed the wheels of Kapanen to get pucks north and get on the forecheck. 9games now for him and this is the longest stint of grade A games he's played.

Thing is when the board battles be happening the Panthers have younger players in those board battles fighting. Panthers are stronger physically. They were pounding us tonight.

Net effect is the Panthers won the round and also went to the body a lot. unfortunately they did everything they wanted to do. Down the wire it might even be more important they went to the body so much. They're trying to pound us down. No other club could.

The Oilers are the older team and the top heavy team. So much of our fate revolves around McD/Drai/Booch who are seeing huge minutes. Florida can get minutes and production from other guys. I don't see how playing 9 periods so far favors the Oiler. particularly as we lost home advantage and are going into Florida for next two games.
That’s not true at all this series though. They’ve been riding their top 9 and top 4 harder than we have.

why does a cold pp absolve Skinner of whiffing on a breakaway with no shot?
Because it shouldnt come down to that. The longer you let them hang around eventually they will get a break. This is a team playing in their 3rd straight Stanley cup final. They will absolutely find a way if you give them time. Found 2 breakaways and that’s the game.

Well said. And as always, I am thankful that our players are a hell of a lot mentally tougher than the posters on here. f***ing mental midgets.

Oilers in 6.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough even though I stated it exactly, that the Oilers lean heavily on McD, Drai, and Booch. They're eating huge minutes and McD had the most minutes in this game, as a forward, which is nuts. Most of our production comes from these 3 guys. Invariably. Florida has more balanced production. They can setup a top nine. Their 4th line were getting regular enough shifts.

Florida did roll lines in this game. More than did in game one. That was one of the adjustments. They made many adjustments. Their board seals and NZ play were much more integrated and effective tonight. We weren't getting much out of our long pass game tonight. They took that away for the most part.

But allowing a goal off a trickling non-shot is totally acceptable?
No it’s a bad goal I have no problem saying that. They still would’ve had to actually score one more to win though. They had ample opportunity to put this game away early including a 5 on 3 and ended up losing the special teams battle at home. That’s the margins that you’re playing with at this level. The PP lost this game.

a break is now a goalie whiffing on a no-shot breakaway in the cup finals?

So letting in a bad goal, in OT no less, played no role in the team losing this? None whatsoever.

Two good teams trading chances. Great series so far. Epic fail by the refs again tonight with two horrible mistakes that directly affected the outcome, Bennett directing Eks stick away from him and the blatant too many men call that they literally watched and did nothing about it.

Sadly the way Florida plays combined with the way refs officiate / manage games and the expectation by the league that its prison rules in the Final benefits them greatly. Plus they won the LTIR lottery with being able to get Marchand and Jones due to Tkachuks "injury" which he magically returned from in Game 1 of the playoffs.

So we have to beat Florida, the refs and the NHL if we want to win a cup with talent alone.

A breakaway none the less. Be nice if they just spotted us two of those but it is what it is.

So if someone gets a breakaway and decides to close their eyes and take the gentlest shot...that going in on the goalie shouldn't be blamed on the goalie? I mean it's a breakaway so the shot itself doesn't matter...it's just going in anyway, right?

You are lost.
