It wasn't. It rose by the time it hit the post, but if Skinner's square instead of doing some weird half butterfly guessing game it hits him right here just by being in the butterfly.View attachment 931754
How high is that puck on that angle? Almost impossible to tell. There was an other angle on the broadcast that looked to me like it was around 10" but then again its just a guess.

Your point about Skinners unusual positioning is valid though.

Skinner will say he played well, like he always does. His attitude is just as bad as his goaltending. On and on the shitshow goes. No wonder Nurse tries to play goal half the time.

NHL players shoot post and in for 95% of their shots and guess what goalies make them look routine 915% of the time.

You can really tell fans that have never played a hockey game.

Until we passed it to them in the slot then gave up a break away next shift. That’s just disastrous game management. Skinner has to make more saves but you can’t play that way and expect to win consistently.
Lol at this post. Do I watch any other teams? All teams give up chances and have breakdowns. Stats track this

That picture is taken after the puck would have hit Skinner if he was square at the top of his crease, and in video watching that back there is no chance thats over the pad.
Yeah but he has to respect the pass. You can’t just be down in butterfly early on a two on one.

Love the person, hate the goalie.
No offense, I’m not trying to shit on your post or single you out, but I don’t get why people keep saying this. Who cares if he’s a nice guy? He’s not a member of your family. You don’t hang out with him. His personality is irrelevant. The only thing that should matter to fans of the team is the performance in the ice. And he gave us another doozy tonight.

It most certainly isn't. There are many shots that happen in an NHL game where they would go post and in but are stopped on a routine save because the goalie plays the angle right.
Well...we just have a difference of opinion on that goal.
Thats okay.

I would like to see a few other angles but I deleted the game off my PVR (in frustration) the second they lost.

Honest question, why don't we bring up Rodrigue and give him a few starts, he can't be worse, can he? can he?
Is he lighting up the AHL? Not sure how calling up an AHL level goalie would help.. he looked pretty bad at the end of training camp.
A few goalies got waived recently that we could've claimed.

Maybe the Oilers had the right idea about Cossa over Wallstedt.

Cossa would look like a really good option going forward...

Well, to be fair, average SV% is .900 this year. Still doesn't look good on .87whatever Skinner.

Why in the HOLY F*CK is he doing a Reverse VH there????????????

He literally gave Marner that goal on a silver platter.
I don’t think RVH applies when you’re facing a shooter on a 2 on 1. He’s just in some sort of I shit my pants stance that just happens to resemble RVH.

In the last 10 minutes of a game we give up the most goals in the NHL. 18 goals so far. It’s great if we don’t give up a ton as a whole but we give up 10 bell chances late in games consistently. When it’s the same point in the game consistently that’s not just on goaltending it’s game management.

Skinner is protected by the organization because he’s a hometown guy, has a marketable moustache, and is young. If he was say Finnish and bald, his ass would be waived or traded by now

I missed the game but it sounds like Bouchard, who is having a worse season than Nurse as I have said before and will say again until he isnt, and Skinner wear the goat horns - again.....stop me if you've heard this before.
bouchard has been setting new lows.
there's bad, there's brutal....

and now there is bouchard bad,

which is a good thing in his contract year.

People act like other teams don’t make mistakes. Ours are just highlighted because they end up in the net more than half the time.
Its like people do not watch other teams. I always have other games on in the background (IPTV) . Every team gives up crazy chances.

Mayne that's why I am so annoying and vocal. I can't stand skinner after I watch other goalies. He is just wayyyy too inconsistent and has terrible mechanics and puck tracking.

Stats track this. The oil gave up almost nothing . This is trump supporter logic

He is, so why not give him Montreal? Homecoming of sorts too, I could see him getting up for it in a big way.

Meanwhile Pickard had a solid game last game and doesn’t play tonight.

He gets so much rope and hes so bad. This organization is inept if they can’t see it.

I think we win that game with Pickard.

Good point.
Skinner may have been positioning himself to push off if necessary.
I deleted the game so quickly (I didnt see the replay) I cant recall where the other Leafs forward was positioned.

Not many serious contenders make mistakes like the Oilers do. Bouchard gave up two freebie goals.
