That game in Toronto was all I needed to see from Jonas Johansson. For all the people who have been pissing and moaning about the signings this is actually worth complaining about. Annunen should be the 3 and getting the majority of the starts in the AHL.

I hope I don't have to see this guy in net again. I don't understand this one.

Frankie's cap hit is 2 million. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a precursor to a trade and a way to open more cap space if Jojo is near vet minimum. The Avs would have a horrendous 2 and that's a risky move with an unproven starter, but this move makes zero sense on its own.

small mistake, but still a mistake. JoJo is one of the worse goalies I have ever seen. dude is ECHL level at best and is being brought *again* for what purpose, really? #3? that should be Annunen getting some opportunities once in while. looks like they are giving up on him and I dont like this. I swear, JoJo better not steal some games from our beloved fatty Finn in the AHL. JoJo needs to play 0 games in the NHL and at most 5 games in the AHL.

Relax, he's there to share the load with Annunen and they will make a fine AHL duo. He is a billion % better than Miska.

Miska is gone. to share the load with Annunen they already have Miner, who is younger and has potential to be an ice hockey goalie at least. they could easily wait till training camp to "fill this slot" and I bet ya they would still find someone better than JoJo.

whatever, Ill store my grudge for when JoJo inevitably starts a game in NHL and costs us a game. just disappointed because I want the best environment possible for Annunen. would be cool if they signed a veteran like Schneider to teach a thing or two to the youngsters, for example.

They needed to replace the Swede they just lost.

I'm intrigued by Johansson, and obviously so is the org. And while I'm a horrible judge of goalies, I've got some faith that they see something in him that they think will translate.
And besides, he was signed to platoon with Annunen. I'm not going to over-analyze a third goalie (at best).

Have no idea how people are upset about this. The hope is that Annunen shows enough where he's ready for a few NHL games, but he's been inconsistent. Better to let Annunen get consistent reps in the AHL if he's not ready for the NHL and let JoJo sit on the bench when/if Georgiev or Frankie go down.

This is about organizational depth. W/o JoJo you are 1 injury away (AHL or NHL) to having rookie Miner as your #3 and AHL starter. You can't have this level of inexperience unless he was a top top prospect (which he is not).

Why not? Good guy and we shouldn't see him in the NHL.

I think we already knows what he brings to the table and I for one don’t want to see that again. Odds are we won’t yes but never say never.

I agree he’s a great guy, I also thought DK is a great guy and am not sad he’s gone. Although I may be if Georgiev craps the bed.

They were one injury away from Miska though the entire playoffs. I was hoping they’d take Annunen seriously as the third goalie on the path to NHL viability, which has to happen at some point.

i wonder if they’ll give JoJo a ring at least, it wasn’t his fault he left lol.

Well they lost JoJo to waiver and they probably preferred that didn't happen.

If I remember Anunen backed up Frankie when Kuemper couldn't go, so I would say they were 2 injuries away from Miska sitting on the bench.

I'm happy we have a 3a and a 3b. If Anunen can't outshine JoJo then we have our answer about his long term potential.

Our organization goalie depth is the best it's been in a while. I'm happy with that.

Please elaborate. We are not deeper then when we had to rely on MF Miska?

I'm not going to pretend to know anything about goalie prospects. Maybe we are deeper than before, but my point is that if an unproven starter is our #1 and JJ is our 3a/3b with Annunen being our biggest hope in net down the road, that's pretty sad.

My point was organizational depth and not our No1. Our AHL tandem is the best it's been since the 1st year of the AHL Eagles with Frankie (who was a star) and Spencer Martin (who was not very good then).

We have 2 #3 that can play a couple of games with us and do the job in the regular season. That quite a change from the Miskas and Werners.

The goalie depth really isn't all that great IMO. You got two guys in the NHL who have proven to be NHLers, but unknowns as starters. The 3G is JoJo, who we know sucks. 4G is Annunen who, at best, has NHL backup potential. Then 5G is Miner who is a waste of a contract space. I believe in the talent at the NHL level. They'll find a way to work, they just need to prove it. The rest is really meh to bad.
