Another good test for the Flames tonight except we may actually play the Avs in the playoffs if we make it in.
The secret to winning tonight? Shut down MacKinnon and Wolf having a Vezina type game. Will we see Solo playing defence tonight?

Solo wasn’t in the projected lineup.

Christ, Rooney in the line up makes me puke.... Why no Solo???

Love the subject line and yes, FH mate... He did dirty on us...

Will Kerins get another shot at playing for the Flames this year? What exactly did he do wrong or Rooney do better?

Huby-Naz-Posp/Zary
Rango-Frosty-Coro
Coleman-Backs-Farabee
Lombo-Kerins-Klapper/Posp

Bahl-Raz
Weegs-Poirier
Solo-Patches

is what it should be imho

I know it’s fun to crap on 4th liners. I partake in it regularly myself and I’d love to see some fresh faces but swapping out a 4th liner for a moderately better 4th liner has little to no impact on the game. Depth is important but top guys carry the water in the NHL

I do desperately want to see solo get a look while he’s up, need to figure out what we have there

Weegar-Miromanov terrifies me, love weegs but he’s been trying to do a bit too much the last couple games and I really don’t think Miro is the solution to that lol. I guess he can’t turn it over if he has to defend

It's not 1988 anymore where the 4th line exists only to give the top guys a breather. Increased competition affects every single aspect of the game, just like it does in every other professional field.

And that's the problem; Rooney isn't a 4th liner. In reality, he's a bad AHL'er.

Lomberg can't exactly carry a line either. So those two being fixtures is exactly why the 4th line is a tire fire more often than not.

I simply can't agree with that in the slightest.

Over the past 20 games Kevin Rooney has been outscored at 5 on 5 11-1.... That's a significant issue, especially for a team with a style of game conducive to playing in and winning low scoring games. He has an xGF% of 28% during that span. It's a miracle if that line doesn't get completely annihilated on a game to game basis. He's quite arguably the worst player currently in the NHL, and no, that is not hyperbole. Lomberg hasn't been much better but atleast he has a history of contributing to very effective 4th lines, unlike Roondawg.

Yeah sheesh that’s worse than I thought fair play. I was just browsing TOI and saw lomberg was like under 6 minutes last few games. Rooney is noticeably bad but I didn’t think they were getting scored on that often

I get that they sent kerins down so he’d play more but the guy is 23. The new prime in the NHL for forwards is almost like 23-30. He’s a middle six guy at best so if he can give you good 4th line minutes I don’t know why they wouldn’t be playing him now. It’s not like he’s 20 and needs time to develop
