Pre-Game Talk: Week of Trade Deadline, Please Stay Crosby, Sharts, and Leaves

I've seen Lindgren play. Unfortunately, I've also seen every big hitter that comes to the Avs gets neutered. Do you remember the pent up absolute rage Footer felt in his last shift? Nearly two decades of being restrained by coaches in the NHL were suddenly dropped. The refs were just too flabbergasted to actually blow a whistle and it remains to this day, my absolute favorite Avalanche moment.

The question I have is, how many games before Lindgren gets suspended

He's never been suspended, and he did have a hearing after the Donskoi hit.

Lindgren for a long time has reminded me of Ryan Wilson. Ironically enough, both guys try/tried to play a heavy game despite not having the size for it.

That's a good comp, let's hope he has a little more mileage left than Wilson lol.

He’s not tall, but he looks thick and rugged with his gear on. Maybe like how LOC isn’t a big guy but he has the neck of Powdered Toast Man.

Hey guys, Rangers fan just peeking in, so feel free to tell me to GTFO.

You may want to temper your expectations on Lindgren. He's never been a physical force, and he's slowed down significantly over the last couple years. It isn't an exaggeration to say that the Rangers are better just by removing him from the lineup.

I hope he turns it around with you guys; he's a warrior for sure, and will lead with whatever body part he has to to block a shot. And perhaps getting more sheltered minutes will be a godsend for him. But I suspect he's not an NHL defenseman anymore.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Our understanding is the Rags have used him on the top pair with Fox, which is not where Lindgren will play on the Avs. He's been practicing on our 3rd pair- reduced minutes, lesser competition, and so forth. I'm curious if you feel this will be a better utilization?

Oh god yes

He was miscast in New York for nearly his entire tenure. It has definitely taken its toll on Fox's impact, and perhaps also did a disservice to Lindgren.

He's taken more punishment over the years than any player I've ever seen (save maybe for Dan Girardi), and he doesn't like spending time in the gym, so his body may also just be beat up. But if you want somebody to play a minimal role at 5v5, and happily throw his body in front of pucks on the PK, then I hope he fits in.

He's apparently a good lockerroom leader as well, but the bar is pretty low for that in New York at the moment, so I wouldn't put a lot of stock in it.
