Oh yeah, the Avs absolutely should be sending guys out to PK that they don't intend on using very frequently come playoffs.

Send Middleton and EJ out to PK, hell send Malinski and Girard tonight, too. Up front? Bah gawd that's Jimmy Vesey's music! And he's got Miles Wood to his left and Chris Wagner to his right, King! They're here to kill penalties!

Their are a lot of people who "deserve" an Art Ross.... they are in the running year after year but don't. MacKinnon is one of those. The Art Ross trophy is as much a testement to luck (health and division games played being the biggest x factors).

The Hart ... yeah, I think players will covet it but honestly the Lindsay should mean so much more to them.
And as far as the Hart goes, they rarely give it to the same player 2 years in a row. Even if Nate didn’t miss this last few games, they probably wouldn’t give him the Hart again since he won it last year

Feel like when the playoffs begin I'd like to see:

Lehky-Nate-Necas
JD-Nelson-Nuke
Landy-Coyle-Colton
Kivi-Drury-O'Connor

Devon-Makar
Girard-Manson
Lindgren-EJ/Malinski

Yeah, really who cares what Adrian Dater or AJ Heffalump thinks of a player? The Lindsay is voted on by the players. That's the one that matters.

That’s solid except Malinski should be a regular over EJ for sure. He’s been really good since the trade deadline

alphabetial only.
It's Malinski's role unless we need some beef. If EJ is kept out of the fight for several games, can you imagine how freaking raring to go he's going to be once he's unhobbled.

Maybe that's not the right metaphor. Once he's put back into the lineup! That's better.

I think Malinski may have a slight edge over EJ for his shot, but he's been hit and miss IMO.

Even in the games he's played well after the deadline, when he's been hit a couple times, his game kind of falls apart afterwards, and he rushes a pass for a turnover, or makes a mistake, sometimes leading to a goal against.

Outside of the few games after injury where EJ took a few shifts to loosen up his lower body injury and skate ok again, he's been pretty solid. He's also made some really good outlet passes and he's actually been getting his shots through. Both actually better than his last couple year or two in Colorado.

If things stay the same, then I think maybe Sam should start, but shouldn't have more than one game of leash. I'd be ok starting EJ too if he keeps playing solid hockey. He's got offensive instincts that some of the other D, including Malinski, don't have.

One thing that benefits EJ is his chemistry with Girard, who work very well together getting each other the puck in their own end, to get the puck out of the D zone. Also allows them to use Lindgren and Manson together as a hard to play against 3rd pair, like they did before Manson got hurt.

Don’t Hart and Lindsay often go hand in hand? Usually they give the both awards to the same player. Once in a while they might give the Lindsay to a different player but more often than not it’s the same player that gets both. At least to my recollection

I fully expect to see both play many games. It's not a bad situation to be in when you have basically two 6/7 dmen who offer very different attributes.

I have Malinski ahead of EJ quite easily to begin the playoffs. Only if Malinski starts to cower and back away from physical play then EJ should be inserted into the lineup. Otherwise, Malinski is the better skater, passer, and overall fit for the system.

I think it's close, but I more or less agree. Malinski's issues are the kind of classic issues that get exploited in the playoffs though.

I heard a couple weeks ago he said the way he deals with physical play is by using his feet, but he hasn't really done that as well as he should in the regular season, so the playoffs are a bit of a concern IMO.

Someone on the Avs should send a text to Nate everyday that Kucherov beat him for the Art Ross actually hang a photo in his locker, I want him playing fired up for the playoffs

Let's be honest. If the playoffs started today Mack would be playing not sitting. His injury is minor and he is choosing to rest up before the playoffs. He knows that loses him the Art Ross and while he's a competitive guy who would like an Art Ross, his motivation is not individual accolades, it's the cup. Putting kucherovs photo anywhere won't fire him up. Putting 16 wins, cup pics etc would be more motivation.

I really don't think MacKinnon needs pictures to motivate him. He is more internally motivated than any athlete I've ever seen, except maybe Michael Jordan.
I agree. He's got that fire in him. I was trying to say motivating Mack by using other players is not likely to get him going. He's all about his team, he doesn't give two f***s about anyone else's accolades.

Gonna guess both Makar and Toews don't play the last two, and Lehky or Coyle get the weekend off as well.
Makar needed one more point :(
