So Mack lost the Art Ross.

I don't believe he's injured, he just doesn't want to play bullshit games and risk injury.

But separating Nelsons and Necas points is fine because... they are a part of the team?

Factually Rantanen has scored the 2nd most points of any forward for the Avalanche this season. That is an undisputed fact regardless of whether he is on the team currently or not.
Rantanen will not score any points for us in the playoffs. Whether he had a million points or none, it would make no difference to us (apart from playing against him ofc). Nelson and Necas do play for us and can contribute behind MacKinnon.

I won't include Rantanen no matter how much you cry about it.

So with Necas and G in, Wags again in for Rosco, probably looking at something like...

62/11/88
94/10/13
28/18/26
17/14/25

7/8
55/70
49/6
67

39

Or maybe they go with 7D tonight, and another F is scratched. Coyle could be out due to his illness, and Lehky looks like he needs a break to me.

Okay but that is a totally different point to your post...

Because we got an update on Monday morning. He skated with the team for 25 minutes and they’re hoping he can play before the regular season ends.

Ok thanks, I hadn't seen that update. I wish we knew whether he was injured or not, but I guess that's not that big a deal.

It's kind of crazy MacKinnon leads the league in points and is shooting at 10.0%.

He has the worst shooting percentage of the top 75 forward point leaders in the NHL. Celebrini at 9.5% is 75th in the league in points.

MacK also leads the entire league in shots at 320. Wild. 320 shots with a 10% goal rate. No wonder he has regressed from 51 goals last year to just 32 this season. Last year he was at 12.6%. That would be over 40 goals this season with his shot total.

Why do you guys think this is?

Bad luck? Poor shot selections? I notice he throws a ton of weak ass floaters from the perimeter on goal instead of driving the net for high percentage chances like he used to do.

I don't think it's a Nate issue. I think it's a team wide issue IMO. Nate just shoots more than everyone.

Liles said recently that Nate and Cale are #1 and #2 in hit posts this year and Mikko was 3rd.

I think it stems from how hard they skate and work to hound pucks on the forecheck and backcheck, and create scoring chances, that they naturally just let up a bit after all the hard work is done when they go to shoot, instead of bearing down on their shots. It's a bad habit that needs to be broken.

Also why they make so many goalies look like prime Roy shooting pucks into their chest all night.

I think the only solution is to just practice their shots more to rebuild that muscle memory of picking their spots better, instead of shooting wide, or off the post/bar. Confidence plays a factor at times too.

You might want to check out the other posts in the thread; The report earlier in the week, don't remember if it was Monday, was he had been out for an injury. But he also skated Monday and in a regular jersey.

The report today, straight from Bednar's mouth, is Girard is playing tonight.

I think that's from his lower body injury a couple weeks prior right? The recent absence has been listed as undisclosed.

The fact that nobody has asked if it's the same injury, or whether he is injured, kinda makes it sound like it's not the same problem. But all we're able to do is speculate on that.

In fact, I really wouldn't put it past the team just just lie the first time about being injured. I think they have before.

I wish we could ask, but I don't need to know all the details if it's personal. Hope he's doing better.

Nobody should give a f*** about individual award chasing. It's something I don't understand. When did we turn into Oiler fans?????

The playoffs is what matters.

Well, I certainly give a vague f*** about it but definitely not more so than postseason success. It just sucks that Kucherov had this late season surge and MacKinnon's wings got figuratively (and still figuratively but closer to literally) clipped. He likely wasn't winning it anyway with the power play going dead again and 13 and 62 shooting blanks down the stretch.

For the love of god don't let Makar PK. Let Middleton PK the whole 2min if we have to

Sad to see no Mack which likely means no Hart nor Art Ross, but awesome he doesnt give a F about them.

Dude should just lie down on the ice in front of the net to take away the low shots allowing the goalie to basically have a bit of a permanent shield.

Now, this isn't necessarily what I would do. When you have a team made up of dudes whose very first requirement is... can you skate like the wind? I think I'd work on a much more agressive system challenging the puck carrier forcing folks to the outside and disruptting their cycle. Get good with the stick and positioning and challenge like hell.

Hart and Ross are cool and all, but I’ll take a healthier and fresher MacK in the playoffs instead
Their are a lot of people who "deserve" an Art Ross.... they are in the running year after year but don't. MacKinnon is one of those. The Art Ross trophy is as much a testement to luck (health and division games played being the biggest x factors).

The Hart ... yeah, I think players will covet it but honestly the Lindsay should mean so much more to them.
