I don't think they're a good team but IMO there isn't a roster underperforming more than that one. They're getting elite-level goaltending and can't score to save their lives, I think it's mostly because they've actually put together a pretty skilled roster but their meathead GM and minor league coach insist on making them play like they're a squad of 4th line scrubs.

Also, Vatrano should never be a guy you build around, flip him for assets the moment he hits a hot streak. He may be able to put the puck in the net but he's so atrocious defensively he gives up way more than he produces (watch him score another goddamned hat trick on the Avs tonight). They also held onto (and are continuing to hold onto Gibson) way, WAY too long.

Even if they drop 10 on the Avs that won't mean they aren't a bad team, that'll just mean the Avs aren't that good either.

Making a cross sport comparison, but the Ducks remind me of the Rockies. Very poor drafting and development along with some strange attachment to players and GMs. They keep drafting at the top, but draft terrible so they only end up with busts. When those busts bust, they clutch onto them as any remaining value erodes away.

The Ducks still have a HC you hire if you are still wanting high draft picks. I loved Cronin with the Eagles. But it appears that his forte is getting AHL guys ready for 5-7D roles or 6-10 minutes a night skating uselessly on the 4th line. I'm not convinced the little ball of hate is all that of GM either.

The jersey's are wonderful... just completely the wrong colors. Bring back eggplant, jade, white and silver you cowards!

Also, Wildwing Flashblade is.... well, I have to admit, one of the cooler mascots in the league. My wife still loves the cartoons.

Penalty kill is at 22nd percentile, although some of that might be the George effect depending on how the stats were compiled.

I do wonder what it would take for Bednar to let someone else to take those minutes so that Cale can be fresher for the other phases of the game and the playoffs.

Avs have a fun habit of winning the game I don’t attend when they play twice in Van in a season. Canucks home form is terrible though so hoping that curse is more powerful but still expecting a loss
