I cannot f***ing understand it, IMO he has played very well
I have liked his game a lot. Skates hard, actually has speed, uses his body to make plays on pucks, has been trying to shoot everything, goes to the net.

I don't know what it takes. Maybe it's a product of not having enough NHL bodies and Parssinen gets stuck with the 4th line scrubs but IMO he has outplayed Mittelstadt since arriving.

I think it's more about Bednar's obsession with the Kivi-Kelly-LOC line. I really don't understand how that line became so important that they can't be broken up.

My issue is that I really want to see Pärssinen and Rantanen together. We need to spread the wealth, but Mitts was just dragging Rants down.

Probably a paper one. Not cap related, but real $$$ related.
I know the Avs are not the only ones to do this, but it's pretty scummy behaviour IMO. A lot of these rookies/callups might not have that much of an NHL career anyway, and they are losing so much money, when it really doesn't show up in the bottom line of the Avs anyway. Not to mention, you should not be expected to make money with a sports team anyway.

When there's a chance to accrue capspace, it's understandable. This is just pinching for pennies, and it doesn't make a huge difference for Kroenke at the end of the day. But it will make a big difference for a guy like Innala, or Ivan Ivan.

Yeah, it’s Kroenke.

This is the same team that encourages all the fans to pickup garbage and recycling on their way out of the arena and throw it out yourselves.

I’ve never experienced that anywhere else in the world in any sport in any stadium/arena/whatever.

Gotta think Kroenke's deal to CMac is "I will go into LTIR but you better do every last possible thing to save me money elsewhere" and these are those transactions, unfortunately.

This is why CMac has a band of nerds that don’t even go to the rippers.

Like I said, this is not unique to the Avs. Even a team like the Rangers does it, or used to do it under Jeff Gorton. And it was not limited to 4th liners either, a guy like Kakko lost plenty of money during his ELC being sent down as a paper transaction. He never played a single game down there.

In their defense, they are likely to be top 5 in actual payroll spent this year. That isn't ment to take away from the shittyness towards guys like Innala or Ivan who may never see an NHL paycheck again.

The next CBA, I wonder if the NHLPA would fight for pay for games played rather than days rostered.

I was watching attentively the Oilers' PP yesterday. OMG what a difference with ours. The main difference I saw is how much more McD moves compare to Mack. He is all over the offensive zone. Mack and Makar both move but they mostly stay within their own portion of the ice. The way McD moves creates a lot of chaos for the defenders which opens up passing lanes.

The worst offender on our PP IMO is Mikko. He is the worst about being stationary. He barely moves and on top of that he holds on to the puck way too long which gives plenty of time for the defenders to re-adjust their position and close all lanes. At least when Makar holds on to the puck longer he actually skates around to open up lanes. Mack on the other hand most often just makes a few 180 degree turns until he finally gets 2 defenders on him and loses the puck or makes a terrible pass (especially on his backhand).

They have got to create more movement.
Admittedly there was a lot more movement on the power play today against the Stars. Mikko was shifting a lot behind the net, along the wall, etc. Where I think they’re still having issues is when they pass it to a guy with his back to the net down low…what are they trying to accomplish there? He has no angle of attack to the net, he can’t really dish it off for a real scoring chance, it just makes no sense.

They also have got to quit forcing that goddamn pass into the slot area. It’s not working. What FINALLY worked today was planting a guy in front of the net and shooting through traffic.

It took forever but yes the powerplay finally showed some signs of life. Urgency and puck + body movement was noticeably better. Hope to see it trend in a good direction.

For all the times I've read on the board "they are just a wild card team" we are now tied in points with Dallas and a point away from Minny for second in division.

But if you sort by points percentage we are still the first wildcard at .606 trailing the Wild (.630), the Stars (.633) and the Jets (.691).

I always follow points percentage as it at least attempts at a correction for games in hand.

I do too, but while we factually are in the wildcard spot right now, we are definitely not too far away from gaining those very two spots up the ladder. The #2 spot in division is there for the Avs if all goes well. Winnipeg won't probably totally collapse they're too good for that, but the way things are going for Dallas and Minny lately we have a good sniff of them already.
