Pre-Game Talk: Week of Home Cookin' (Tue vs. DET, Thu vs. LAK, Sat vs. STL)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

I know Bednar wants to give everyone a look, and spread the scratches around so it's not personal, but LOC should never be scratched so that Vesey and/or Wood can play. He's just too good at his role.

That's what Bednar did against Chicago and Montreal recently.

I haven't seen anything from Vesey really. Don't think he fits this team well.

We do need Wood in the lineup sometimes so when we are playing with the lead, he can take a penalty and make things interesting

Another advantage of Dallas trying hard to stay ahead of us in the standings and with Heiskanen out is that they are overplaying Hartley and Lindell quite a bit. Those two could be very tired by the time playoffs come. Give me Dallas in the 1st round. With our luck the Jets will shit the bed and drop to 2nd place.

I wouldn’t mind facing the Jets in the 1st round again. The way i see it, Vegas might be the real tough team in the west. I mean Dallas still plays that annoying team defense and stuff, and they do have deep forward group, but they’re not as good as last year, especially without Heiskanen

I still look at it like, if you are a god-damned champion, the path you take makes no difference. You're going to have to beat good teams along the way. Why not knock off what is considered your toughest out in the first round?

Positioning and final placement only matters to me at this point in regards to: are we still in the playoffs or not? As long as we are, I want Bednar running experiments at this point, refining the overall game play. As we move through these final games, the only thing that truly matters is "how we are playing" not the score. We need to be playing better, tighter and more as a single organism rather than 20plus players.

I agree. I’m just saying, I don’t think the Stars are as good as last year

I hope Makar can get on a bit of a goal scoring streak, I think it would be hilarious if he was the Avs leading goal scorer for the season.

I don't care about him leading the team in goals, but I want him to score 30.

Only 1 defenseman has hit 30 goals scored in the past 32 years; Mike Green with 31 in 2008-09. Before that, it was Kevin Hatcher in 1992-93.

Bobby Orr - 5 times
Paul Coffey - 4 times
Denis Potvin - 3 times
Phil Housley - 1 time
Doug Wilson - 1 time
Ray Bourque - 1 time
Kevin Hatcher - 1 time
Mike Green - 1 time

Interesting that Bednar said he only expects to have about 4 practices for the remainder of the season. That wouldn't include gameday skates.

There's 2.5 weeks left in the season, so just 1 or 2 practices per week, max, on off days for the rest of the year.

This team should be fresh going into the playoffs.

This team needs to be fresh to play the style they want. That's why they always suck at game 7s and in the cup year they had 2 sweeps and no game 7s.

This is nothing out of the ordinary, it's pretty standard around the league at this time of the year. So it's not any different than any other year.

Our season does end 3 days earlier than Dallas, so that's an advantage.

Vesey is this years Sturm. Can be plugged in but brings nothing of substance.
