Pre-Game Talk: Week of a Canadian Roadie, @Leaves, @Sens, and @Habs

Landy-Coyle-Colton can be a really good 3rd line or if Landy is good to go on top 6, maybe move Lehky down to that 3rd line. Either way that forward group gets much deeper.

That 3rd line becomes more of a 2nd line

Listening to the SN Vancouver morning show, and in the third hour they had a debate about what day starts the week. And guest host Jamie Dodd got absolutely torched by the regular host Jason Brough and both the producers for saying it's Sunday and not Monday.

This isn't a diss I promise: There's nobody obvious who I'd want to bump down to make space for Landeskog. Even Colton has gotten better after the trade deadline. This is a strong roster if we can stay healthy and clean.

As good as he's been this season, it's likely that Joel Kiviranta would get bumped off the 3rd line then Parker Kelly gets healthy scratched. A shame for a guy like Kelly because he works his tail off every night.

Unless you're Parssinen and Bednar says you're not allowed lmao

That was still so crazy lol

MacK missed practice to rest, Parssinen was the only healthy scratch forward. Bednar still didn't let him fill in for MacK and would rather have Lehky-Necas alone and Parssinen skating with nobody on the 5th line.

I hope we one day find out why Bednar hated him so much.

I really wouldn’t worry about guys getting bumped down or out of the line up to make room for Landy. There will always be injuries and everyone will still get to play, or if not injuries, they can always rotate players in and out of the line up based on match ups and stuff. It’s a good problem to have

I think a landeswatch thread needs to be made cuz half the time any news is in the injury thread and other times it's somewhere else

We're almost exactly one month away from the start of playoffs. So, guess we will see. If we see him taking contact in the next few weeks I'll start getting excited.

By the way, I'd hate to be whoever on the teams hits him 1st in practice.

I think if the Avs want Landeskog back, it's as simple as LTIRing Manson and Wood. That's more than enough cap space for him.

I feel like the Avs might go down that route with Manson. It worries me because if he's returning for the 1st round rusty, that could be rough to watch. We know bad Manson is VERY bad. Like cost you games bad.

Can Landy be sent to AHL for conditioning without his cap hit affecting the Avs? I feel like I should know this things and it’s probably a dumb question

  • LTIR and Salary Cap:
When a player is placed on LTIR, their salary is still counted toward the team's total cap space, but it allows the team to exceed the salary cap by that same amount.

  • Conditioning Stints:
Conditioning stints are used to allow players to get game action and conditioning while they are on LTIR.

  • LTIR Conditioning Loan:
A player on LTIR can be assigned to the AHL for a conditioning stint, and they still remain on LTIR.

  • Not Counting Against Cap:
While the player is on the conditioning stint, they do not count against the NHL roster or the salary cap.

  • Example:
The Maple Leafs assigned Connor Dewar and Jani Hakanpää to the Toronto Marlies on conditioning stints while they were on LTIR, meaning they did not count against the NHL roster or salary cap while in the AHL.

Participating in FULL practice, not just the morning skate.

In first line blue, as always.

Skating on a line with MacKinnon and Necas.

Good that Necas is there. He didn't see the ice for the last 4:30 of the Dallas game or any of the OT. Probably a coach's decision to reduce risk of losing in regulation with his sometimes indifferent defense?
