My problem with Mayo is why didn’t they plan for Barmore blood clots (he’s not the first person to have them), Bentley rip his biceps, Peppers assaulting GF, and Duggar injuring shoulder all but gutting their defensive interior

We all here would have had a backup because we are smart

We deserve better

Really best case scenario here - look good, show some promise in Drake Maye, have him gain experience in close games, still lose to get the #1 pick next year
Who do you want with that pick? Do you have someone specific in mind? Because that pick is worthless unless the player actually pans out.

I thought Maye was awesome but also showed his inexperience today. I didn't mind the deep ball attempts in OT - shows he's got the balls to go for it. They just needed to be better throws. Kid has got guts.

Tank is still on!
This could not go any better

I wish it was a 9 game season

So many bad teams.

Barmore's blood clots are why they didn't go for two?

Ideally you find a team in the 2-5 overall range who is desperate for a QB and in love with Sanders and swap picks, picking up a second and next year's first. Then you get the best left tackle on the board with your pick.

Not on board with "best case scenario since valuable experience for Maye but a loss for better pick". f*** that. I agree on experience for Maye but they have the QB. I am not celebrating losses anymore. They are an embarrassment as an organization.

Really is a lot of Josh Allen/Brett Favre in Maye’s game. He’s definitely not afraid to throw into tight windows

Drake Maye’s f*** it deep ball was actually him trying to land himself Travis Hunter or Tetairoa McMillan
If we land either I'll be happy

Especially considering he made a bad play to end the game for them. People out here acting like he went and threw 4 tds and had 400 yards of offense and the defense gave the game up. He had a good game, but made a lot of mistakes too. The talent is there, but he's still yet to win a game which is why that was such a huge swing not going for 2. They could have really built some confidence there for Maye and the team for the 2nd half of the season. Even if they don't get it, it shows they have confidence in him. I don't see this anywhere close to a win/win for the team unless you are just looking at draft position.

Having depth is a pretty basic concept for most NFL teams. Also the Patriots are far from the worst injured team out there. The problem with Mayo has been the lack of fundamentals with his team (stopping the run, running the ball on offense, protecting the QB even slightly), the lack of control of the locker room (players getting in trouble off the field and players popping off to media, agents, and on social media) and his in game management (not going for 2 with no time on the clock on the road being a huge one, but also their constant mismanagement of the end of the half's leading to leaving points on the field for the offense or time on the clock for opponents)

Almost forgot to mention their discipline has been horrific. Penalties everywhere on special teams. A million pre snap penalties as well, which again points to lack of discipline.

Home against Colts looks like only game to me where they will have a chance

They probably find a way to win one more game and finish 3-14

I was waiting for this. If you listen to Mayo's press conference he seems pissed off about this decision and didn't want to get into it. Makes you wonder how the decision was made/who really made it.

Should have gone for it though regardless of this slight difference in win probability.
If there’s someone behind the scenes pulling strings, it would partially explain why the Krafts would want an in-house rookie head coach to take over this rebuild. An “outsider” would never put up with the Krafts’ bullshit.

The current Patriots situation probably requires a veteran head coach. There’s too much that needs to be fixed to leave it in the hands of Jerrod Mayo. I know he’s a smart guy, but he’s learning on the job and it’s a pretty f***ing hard job when your team’s talent level is almost zilch.

The wrong guy at the wrong time, and honestly, I wouldn’t have taken that job if I were him.
