It's pretty simple. Offensive lineman can't cross the line of scrimmage more than a yard before the ball is passed. Knowing how to fake a rub block on play action is part of the skill of being a good offensive lineman.

Think they also allow the OL to be past the LOS so long as they are engaged with a defender. Once they separate and then the QB throws the ball, they will get hit with Ineligible downfield.
