I mean sure. NIL, the house deal to pay athletes, and portal are ruining not only college athletics but ruining all other sports besides football/basketball. Many schools will drop programs or severely cut funding to those programs to reallocate money to football/basketball.

But my point was, Georgia hasn’t played in 3 weeks. And a lot of these teams haven’t played in a while. Almost made them rusty not necessarily healthier and energized. Georgia QB was out from his injury. Could the bye for number 1 seed in the NFL be overrated?
CFB is so convoluted now with the transfer window, this playoff system, etc it is unwatchable for me.

Two of the four teams shouldn't have had byes so it's not a shocking result. Hopefully next year they change the seeding rules. The top four teams should be the top four seeds regardless of conference championships. Maybe make a rule so a maximum of two teams in top four could be from one conference however it's rare that there would be three teams from the same conference in the top four in the final rankings.

I like the idea that the top 4 conference champs get byes.......but then everyone is reseeded for the round of 8. So a team like ASU or BSU would have gotten a bye.......but then we wouldn't get OSU vs. Oregon and ND vs. UGA in the round of 8.

While I do think Allen has been the MVP, I don't think Lamar winning is the wrong or a bad choice. I'm surprised Darnold isn't getting some MVP love which I think he's deserved.

If we apply the standard they used last year, Allen is the 2024 MVP by a landslide. If you wanna use “stats” to vote Jackson this year, then Allen should’ve been the 2023 MVP. The “the standard is a moving goalpost so no matter what happens, I can keep snubbing Josh Allen” trash is annoying.

I wouldn't hate it if they extended James Cook as long as it doesn't cost them Shakir, Bernard, Benford, or Rousseau.

I think there are going to have to be some choices made out of that group...eventually.

Cook is probably the biggest priority because the market is pointing to big RB contracts again soon after the big success that was had with Jacobs/Saquon/Montegomery

Benford/Rousseau/Shakir all play at the most expensive positions other than QB.

My guess is something at in the 3 year 8M-10M per or so range since he doesn't have the "big" numbers yet. You've got 3 years left of Ray Davis on his entry level deal.

By taking a little bit of a haircut now, Cook hedges the possibility of injury next year and Buffalo keeps for the rest of his useful years.

Cook's annoying ass brother Dalvin seems to be playing the Trevon Diggs-role this season and posting about his brother getting the bag on Twitter repeatedly.

I love Cook but I don't doubt that Ray Davis/Ty Johnson could replicate 80 percent of his production and that once Allen's more comfortable with his WR core (which has been in a huge transition year), he'll be throwing it from the pocket more.

Like you said, Benford, Rousseau, and Shakir are going to demand a significant raise and they all are a priority over Cook from my perspective. Probably Bernard, too.

You don't want 80% though. Those big runs are absolutely back breakers to teams. There have been multiple games this season that have turned on a big cook run where the score was close and Cook broke a long one and it turned it into a blow out.

That's fair but I also don't want to lose someone from a more valuable position because of a more marginal gap in production at RB. Cook's ability to break off long-runs is what makes him special, I just don't know if it makes him more 'valuable' than any of the other impending free agents.

McD this morning on wgr

Bernard out Sunday as known
Same limited group, most will play, Samuel we will see
Mike White signed to active roster, Morrow released

Starting Off line will dress, but backups will play
Some players have contract incentives
There will be 2 practice squad elevations (Virgil, Shavers, Davidson cannot, already 3 times)
Mentioned records that can be broken
Discussed Pro Bowl selections amicably

Bill's really seem to like Mike White, I wonder if might be the backup for Josh next year if Trubisky moves on ?

Tua unlikely to play Sunday per Dolphins, Huntley would start

Foxboro Weather: 30's, Cool, no weather impacts for game per Patrick Hammer on wgr
National Winter storm should not impact other important games (Denver, New York, Baltimore) on the weekend. Next weekend (for home playoff game) will be Cold, too far out yet for any other weather impacts.

My dad said Allen is QB1 in the pro bowl, is that correct? That'd be his first All-Pro selection I believe.

He was 2nd team All-Pro in 2020. That season's stats, looking back now, are just ridiculous. He's a better QB today than he was then, but he really went off that year when I revisit some of the box scores.
