It is sad that the Chargers are basically guaranteed a playoff spot. Not playing well the last while. No one behind them is a real threat though.

I think it’s mostly on the coach.

Why are you even having him snap the ball if you’re just trying to end the half? LA seemed totally content to go into half but Denver had to get in another play despite not having enough time to reasonably even get into FG range.

I've had some time to digest the free kick now.

I don't like it. All kicking plays in football feels more or less like arbitrary nonsense kept in the game because it evolved from a sport where kicking was important, but this one feels especially arbitrary. Why is there one situation in the game where you don't have to snap the ball, and instead can just hold it on the line of scrimmage?

It definitely feels like one of those things that has been in the rule book forever and no one cares enough to remove it since it happens so rarely.
