It wasn't even a good trick play either. It was the most vanilla trick play ever and absolutely no one bought it.
My theory has always been that trick plays should only be run by good offenses because
A - they have good players
B - the defense has to respect their actual playbook and scheme for specific things you can exploit
When you’re a bad team, especially with a young or inexperienced QB…the other defense is just going to run some coverage disguises and rush at you. It’s not chess when one side struggles at checkers.
Like…the Lions shit works constantly because whoever they’re facing spent all week working on how to prepare for things they’ve seen and cover stud players. The Raiders? Defenses are just trying to throw in presnap confusion and then they’re coming for you.
