Looking forward to some Patriots football today after a week off. Whether they’re good or not, I miss them when they’re not on.

@smithformeragent I knew when the Patriots dynasty fell apart it would be a hard fall.
Tom Curran called it late in the Brady years.

Predicted that the fans would stop showing up.

Tickets last game were $30, but who the hell wants to drive down and deal with that traffic?

I grew up on skates, but the Patriots were the first team I truly fell in love with as the drafting of Bledsoe aligned with my understanding of sports well enough to follow what was going on on TV.

That 1994 team won my heart for life. I cried myself to sleep when the Packers waxed them in the 96 Super Bowl.

Fond memories watching the 2001 run from my Memere’s living room. My dad was recently out of jail and my parents lost custody of my sister and me for a brief time.

Picking up the Boston Herald every morning to read about the Pats were what got me through that challenging time in my life.

One thing that has not changed about Foxborough in 50+ years is that getting out of the parking lot to Route 1 is a nightmare. If the team is winning you deal with it, when they are losing it becomes a hard sell.

Right.

Fenway is a pain in the ass for me too, but I park over by Symphony Hall and it’s a very pleasant walk during the summer.

Even when the team sucks, it’s nice to be outside during the summertime.

I can’t imagine anywhere the Patriots could relocate to in eastern Massachusetts or southern New Hampshire where traffic wouldn’t be an issue. It’s just too congested here.

The traffic has never once bothered me a bit because I just love to tailgate. Grilling, cornhole, music/football/sports-yak on the radio and time spent with loved ones makes for treasured memories each and every time.

If the Patriots had ever got their coveted “megaplex” in Southie, would we have the square mileage of pre- and postgame tailgating bliss we enjoy today? No. We’d all have to take public transportation to get in and out and an indispensable (to me, anyway) part of gameday would be lost. Fans in cities without space for tailgating are really missing out. Football is always the most important part, but far from the only part.

Win or lose, we stay and party until the State Police tell us to wrap it up and we cruise on home.

I remember my dad explaining to me as a kid that he grew up a Giants fan and that Fran Tarkenton was his favorite player.

My uncle was a huge Pats fan. He wasn’t allowed to play sports growing up because he was an only child and his parents were afraid he’d get hurt.

I remember as a kid that the 49ers, Giants, Cowboys, Bills, and Dolphins were always on TV.

Fortunate that I don’t really remember the early 90s Pat Patriot years.

NFL is king despite them over milking the golden goose. People in this region will still watch the sport, whether the Pats stink or not.

But they HAVE TO make the right decision on the coaching staff and the HAVE TO surround the kid with a competent defense, a line, and at least a couple of weapons.

I'm trying to figure out how your uncle is an only child

You’re going to make me write a word problem?!

My father is Michael. His sister is Therese.

My father’s sister Therese married Bob.

Bob is an only child.

Michael met Barbara and fell in love.

They had two children, Michael and Kelly.

I am Michael.

Bob is my uncle.

He died two Christmases ago, and we buried him in his Patriots toque.
