I’m a believer of Dorian Williams. But at this point in his career, that was a type of game you want him nowhere near the defense
I'm sure they talked to him about Milano needing reps to get up to speed, it will be interesting to see how they end up deploying them both going forward.

Honestly, this really felt like the mirror to the Ravens/Bills games where one teams strengths lined up to the others deficiencies, one team was just banged up. Combine it with bad weather and bad bounces for SF, just became a blowout. The CMC injury just deflated the san francisco team that was already crippled with injuries.

Overall, I don't think anyone can complain about a clean game with no injuries though for the Bills though. Winning the AFC East this early is just a cherry on top. Glad to see Josh got to improve his MVP candidate resume though.

Honestly embarrassing. Bet if you swapped Allen with Burrow the media would've heavily favoured Buffalo for the AFC East again.

We interrupt your regular programming....

Man, that compilation is crazy. No matter how much I ride NHL commentators and pundits, the guys that cover NFL and NBA are like cancer in comparison.

Since we played the 9ers, are we putting Trey Lance as the biggest QB bust over JaMarcus Russell?
That's so hard to say. Lance can't get on the field, largely for reasons out of his control. He got hurt, then Brock pretty literally stole the job out from under him.......then Trey got traded to Dallas, who has a legitimate starting QB who borders on franchise-level.

Lance was also a 3rd overall pick. Russell was a 1st overall pick that actively hurt his team often. At least Lance doesn't actively hurt his team.

So I'd lean towards Russell still being the bigger QB bust.

Media: Despite Buffalo winning the division 4 years in a row, we think Miami/NY Jets will win the division.

Also the Media: We can't rank Buffalo ahead of KC despite Buffalo beating them this year, because Buffalo hasn't beat KC in the playoffs in years past.

To be fair to Trey Lance, he hasn't had a much of a chance, though him not getting a shot for the cowboys kinda shows where he is.

The issue for SF is they basically killed their championship window with that trade. 3 1st rounders gone is pretty debilitating long term. And I think we're seeing that now where they had to sign aging stars instead of cycling youth in.

The doghouse
I don’t think people realize how good and deep this roster is. A lot of us here were saying it before the season.

And that should be scary for the rest of the NFL. They have a lot of draft capital this year, and really corrected our cap situation

QB - We have Allen and Trubisky locked up. Might be the year to draft a backup QB in the 3rd or 4th to develop

RB - Cook and Davis still under contract and are great 1-2 punch. Ty Johnson is free agent, really want to bring him back. This trio is deadly

WR - Shakir, Samuel, Coleman are all locked up. Samuel can stay, though a possible cap casualty. Hollin is free agent and should be an easy re-sign. Cooper is a free agent and having a player like him is critical to free up the middle of the field. Really need to bring him back, or his replacement becomes priority number one.

TE - Kincaid and Knox are a great duo. Morris is good/fine, but a free agent and a possible player to replace.

OL - All five starters are locked up next year. Already a lot of interesting young depth, but enough room to add in a quality draftee.

So on offense, our notable FAs are Cooper, Hollins, and Ty Johnson.

————

DE - Epenesa, Groot, Solomon locked up. Von is still under contract and someone will have to explain the contract situation with him to me. But this group could use a blue chip player.

DT - Oliver, DaQuan, and Carter all locked up. Losing some depth guys, but this group would really really benefit from a big addition.

LBs - Milano, Williams, Bernard, and Spector all under contract.

CBs - Benford, Taron Johnson, Elam, Ingram, and Lewis all under contract. Rasul is the big free agent on defense. As the number 2 guy and older, I’d only bring him back on a good deal unfortunately. Can’t be paying big money to a number two CB on a team.

Ss - Rapp and Bishop under contract. Hamlin is a free agent. Need some players added here, but Rapp has been great, and the other spot depends on what the team thinks of Bishop. Hamlin is about as average as they come, and I think the worst starter on the team

So notable free agents on defense are Douglas, Hamlin, and some depth guys in the front seven.

This team is poised to be much better next year, as they contemplate their 2026 free agent class of McGovern, Groot, Epenesa, Shakir, Edwards, Cook, Bernard, Benford. They will have to start working on extensions this year on them. My priority is Shakir, Groot, and Benford. Cook is likely gone at the end of contract. Bernard depends on his health. And McGovern, Epenesa, and Edwards are definite maybes

I mean, I don't think getting mad at the media putting out hot takes is really something to get mad about at this point. Sports media, ESPECIALLY the NFL, is a week to week league that is highly ratings/clicks driven. Most weeks, you have the majority of games played on Sunday with six days until that huge chunk of games again.

So you have to fill 5 days of content based on that sunday slate of games and reaction to it and the previewing of next week. And you also have what, 7 months from the superbowl until the season starts again. And then these NFL Centric shows have 7 months of content to fill with no games to go on.

And there is very much a hive mind/group thought mentality that happens where the media is just reacting to what other media have said because they are starved for actual content. And if you try to make thoughtful, thought provoking content, you'll likely lose sponsors because the eyeballs goes to the artificially generated controversy.

Getting upset that the sport medias groupthink bubble was disconnected with reality is weird. Just realize that the people on any sports radio/TV show are just trying to generate content that will give them clicks/eyeballs. They can be wrong as much as they want as long as people keep watching. There's no points for accuracy, only eyeballs.

I think my frustration was that it felt like an oddly unanimous decision that the Bills wouldn't win the division (and possibly not even make the playoffs). I'm sure there were some in the media who picked the Bills but it couldn't have been many and I can't remember who. Heck given the amount of Jets/Dolphins picks you could argue the true hot take would've been picking the Bills to repeat ...

Also, it feels like the the opinion was very largely influenced by the Diggs departure (and his attitude and comments).

So for a lot of the "experts" it looks like they took one piece of info and just blew up from there.

Just really irritated me more this year than in seasons past.

Yup, and suddenly, those contracts like Von and Diggs that were supposed to be detrimental to us are largely inconsequential because we have an elite QB. I don't think anyone should fear Beane making big moves anymore. We need to maximize our chances at a SB when we have the space. Just have to hope a move like Von works out better, though he has looked pretty good this year atleast.
