The far official blew his whistle and was signaling fake start as soon as the ball was snapped. Bullshit ending.

They had 15
The whole ending was odd.

C was hot. Think you are correct in that he felt KC simulated the snap.

But the whole spiking of the ball was off. Under 30 seconds after the completion. Raiders OC and HC not on the same page as to what to do. If you want to spike it they should have done that closer to 20 seconds left. That gives plenty of time to convert 3rd and 3 and then spike it on first down. A 4-5 second play this have 13/14 seconds to set up for the spike play to leave 2 seconds on the clock.

Otherwise you spike the ball at 3 seconds if you are fine from that distance which was about a 50 yard FG attempt. Though Carlson didn’t make any of his 50 yarders today.

It was 15 seconds. As they clocked it the play before. Michaels said it was 2nd down and 3 but that would have been the spike play on second down. So this was 3rd down. This only play to call was a quick out to the sidelines. Anything in bounds no time to run the FG team out unless they got the first down and then clock it. But that’s super tight to do.

Seemed to let too much time come off the clock before they decided to spike the ball. We’re not sure to run another play or clock it. Took an extra 3-5 seconds to decide what they wanted to do. If you have 18-20 seconds left you can run basically any play.
Only risk is if the QB isn't told it has to go to the sidelines and if it isn't there throw it away. I don't think you can fault the coach for trying to get closer when your kicker has missed a bunch of kicks already. Its not like the kick was a gimme, the right call is to see if you cant get it closer to a 40-yarder.

League will have to issue an apology on that, even Periera claims thats a blown call, its a dead ball

Falls onto how smart AOC is with all of his Purdue starts. Does he understand that it’s 3rd and 3 with no timeouts? That you need to either be A) incomplete, 2) out of bounds or 3) convert a first down so that you can clock the ball? Plus it has to be quick with just 15 seconds left to get set and spike the ball when the runner is down at 10 seconds left?
A 2 yard gain, there’s no time to run the FG unit on and also allow KC to substitute in.

They were on about the 33. So it’s a 50 yard kick. Probably only aiming for 5/6 yards not 10. Unless it’s a sideline play but KC is well coached by Spags on D so they’d be more willing to give you the middle of the field and see if you can execute a quick pass, go down and get properly lined up for the spike, all in 14 seconds.

You can see the ref signal dead ball false start. Not only do they “decide” to change it so KC can end the game with an illegal shift…they don’t even recover the f***ing ball before the whistle is blown and the ref is on the field.

Can see Jackson Powers-Johnson trying to gesture for the call to be on him, but the bottom line is that this was not a false start.

Whistle blew for a false start.

You can clearly see it.

And the ball was recovered by kc After the whistle.

Explain how those sequences of events are an illegal shift, KC ball.

An illegal shift is typically on a skilled position player. Didn’t show a replay of which raiders were not set.

Bottom line in the end. Well coached and good teams don’t have plays like that in key situations.

Abdullah got tripped so his momentum didn’t take him out of bounds but upfield. Landed at about 28 seconds this took LV 13 seconds to execute the spike. Didn’t seem like everyone was moving as fast. Should have been able to shave 2 seconds off that operation.
And leave themselves 17 seconds. Can run any sub 10 yard play. 5 seconds for the play and then 10-11 seconds to complete the spike. But have to move fast and get lined up correctly.

If the chiefs didn’t simulate a snap, then it’s all on the raiders for the loss.

Refs can wave him off, especially if that official agrees.

Chiefs had an immediate clear recovery of the ball even with the whistle, that happens often enough.

The left tackle stood straight up immediately before the snap and was still standing when the ball was snapped.

Yea I don’t know enough about the rules to comment on dead vs live ball fouls, but the recovery rules usually require a clear recovery before the players are affected by the whistle.

Based on the way the players acted, it was pretty clear none of them that were relevant had stopped before the recovery.

What do we say all the time?

Always pick up the ball.

I don't hear whistles until after recovery.

Also, watch the umpire and Line Judge clearly let the play go on, not blowing it dead.

Top of the screen. The linesman is clearly blowing his whistle, running in, and signaling false start immediately. Clear as day on the live video of the play on the broadcast.

As someone else pointed out, players were still fighting for the ball and there was a clear recovery. Even if one offical incorrectly intended to or did blow it, it can be overruled and allowed to stand with clear immediate recovery.

Nothing wonky.

Similar to NHL's continuation rule, a goal can stand if ref blows the whistle, or someone knocks the net off moorings on a bang bang play.

in the end, the correct ruling was made.

also acting like that kick from 50 was anything close to a given, with those prior attempts. Yes, i would have liked to see it attempted and even made, because that's fun.

But the raiders f***ed it up with no one to blame but themselves and didn't deserve such chance in the end.

Obviously if that play is simply a false start the kick mighta been 40 yards. They'd have almost certainly have thrown on 3rd and 8 or whatever it was and maybe have picked up yards

I agree. Good teams don’t screw up in key situations. Again, barring the chiefs simulating the snap which the Refs missed then it’s completely on the Raiders for not executing.

I mean for the 7 yards that Abdullah gained, he went down at 28 seconds and raiders clocked the ball at 15 seconds. So there is no way that they can take that long to clock the ball again in an in bounds play on 3rd and 3 with 15 seconds left. Like a 4 second play then have 11 secs on the clock.

Chiefs D coached well so they’d be squatting on quick sideline outs. Would be giving up middle of the field. So if a receiver gets 5 yards can LV execute a clock play in 10-11 seconds max to leave 1 second on the clock?

They had no timeouts with :13 and it was 3rd down. They weren't gaining 15 yards and getting out of bounds, lol.

A 50 yarder is pretty much a given for Daniel Carlson. I'm not saying the Raiders got screwed but Carlson can easily make a 50 yarder.

It's almost freezing in KC, so it's playing longer than 50, closer to 55+. Did you miss the kick that he chunked like a high handicap golfer, or the other ones that werent close from 50+
