Most complete, well-executed game we’ve played all year…and it’s been a hell of a year so far. We have to get it done when it really matters against the Chiefs, half of me hopes that we don’t run into them in the playoffs and half of me hopes that we do…I want this team to finally close them out in a meaningful game and advance beyond them.

Enjoy the Bye week boys. You’ve done well and you’ve earned the break. Another tough out on the West Coast when we return to our regularly scheduled programming.

My three thoughts:

1) Samuel made some plays. He may not be what we were hoping, but that's fine. We don't need him to be THE guy, but we do need him to be A guy, and he was that today.
2) McDermott keeps killing it on 4th down decisions. Twice he went for it today. He could have settled for FGs and got 6 points, instead he trusted his best player and got 7. That extra point was the difference between this being a two score game instead of a one score game at the end.
3) Bernard is going to give us a tough decision this offseason on extending an off-ball LB (with a year left on his deal). We correctly walked away from Edmunds, but Bernard is simply better. But that's a discussion for another day.
Bernard is on a totally different level of being better and more critical. We have to extend him.

I'm not 100% sure that he is. Bernard is on a totally different level of making splash plays. That much is absolutely factual.

But if Bernard isn't making a splash play......Bernard basically has little bearing on the play at all. He's awful at getting off blocks and bites on play-action way too much.

I think on a play-to-play basis, Edmunds was better at doing the little things. Bernard is most certainly better at causing big plays though.

I’ll have to take your word for it. Purely statistically, Bernard’s most recent season features 22 more combined tackles than Edmund’s’ career best season which was as a rookie. Adding the splash plays to his game by game output, I would take Bernard every day of the week. I do also acknowledge that the Bills front office and coaching staff is doing a remarkable job of developing linebackers and making the loss of any given one or two not that big of a deal overall. That does suggest that the big money should be spent elsewhere.

Great post. Next man up and he was great. Also flexed to left tackle when Dawkins went down. Versatility.
I have always heard the Bill's have always liked Van Demark, and being able to play both tackle spots makes him very valuable and a perfect swing tackle. Anderson is also valuable in the same respects at guard.

In 2-3 weeks you should have Coleman, Kincaid, Milano all back hopefully, (along with Carter and Smoot)

You better get the boat load of cash ready for Benford btw. I believe he gave up one or two receptions today. Any guesses on what that contract is going to look like ? 4 / 90-100M ?

In other news. Remember how I said that I wouldn't want to face the Bengals?

Holy christ their defense is B-A-D. Like.....the Jags just gave up 52 to the Lions.......and the Bengals' D is on that kind of level.

What a big win for a variety of reasons:
-Maintain the pressure on KC to keep winning by earning the tiebreaker
-Trimmed the magic number for taking the division down to 2
-Ensure we keep a 2 game cushion on HOU

Hoping for an NE upset next week over MIA for the potential to clinch the division in week 13

I honestly think any one of Dave Shula, Bruce Coslet or Dick LeBeau could do a better job coaching this roster than Zak Taylor. Generalisimo Marvin probably wins a Super Bowl.
