I assume the counter will be for Andersson ... and then fans on both sides respectfully decline and high 5 each other wishing each other a good off season/draft.I’d love weeger but I assume Calgary would want more than I was comfortable parting with.
It was on a site that said NHL Rumours. There are many sites that postulate trades and if someone here feels it is not legitimate then they really need to spell out the 'legitimate' ones.
No different from the so-called NHL 'Insiders' that pontificate daily on their supposed 'rumours'.
last 3-4 yrs of that contract are looking badTell me you have zero idea what you are talking about without telling me you have zero idea what you are talking about View attachment 1052093View attachment 1052094
The guy's primary partner this season was Joel freaking Hanley. A career #7.
You a time traveler? Tell me the lotto numbers while you're at itlast 3-4 yrs of that contract are looking bad
Its okay if gudas/Trouba stay around we have Solberg coming shortlyTrouba, Gudas, Weegar, all on one team. Heads will be flying.
Or they go with one of McQueen/O'Brien/Martin which ever one is there at #10 and just be epic strong down the middle. There's a (small) chance that Radim Mrtka is the next Weegar. Trade up to 7 or 8 and draft him, or hope he falls to 10. Keep Helleson, keep Gaucher. Draft another key player into your core.
He could also be the next Carlo or Ristolainen though. There's no guarantee with prospects.
This is why I think the Jackets are a prime trade partner if Calgary is considering trading Weegar (or more likely Andersson) Close enough to being competitive to make this type of move but also have the assets and cap space to make it work. The tricky thing is he's worth too much on-ice to the Flames, and is easily worth 10oa for a team that's in a better position to contend in the next few years, but most of those teams don't have a 10oa to give. The kind of team that would value him most probably has a late 1st at best, if they haven't given it up already.
For a team like Anaheim, probably not worth it ... while they're trying to get better, they're only one year out of absolute bottom feeder status, so giving up significant assets for a 31 year old is not the best play. It's one thing to give up virtually nothing of consequence for a Trouba or Kreider, those were practically free pickups for them, but that's not what this would be.
Weegar is still improving imo. He's going to be great for years, likely our next captain.
That being said I'd do this trade immediately and re-sign Andersson.
