Post-Game Talk: We win.

The Leafs have less ROW as well. They basically need to go 3-0 and have 3 teams lose at least all of their last games but one. They literally lose every tie breaker, so they have to have more points which is unlikely, hence the tiny chance.

They iz doneski.

That. The standing are extremely misleading if you look only the points. TOR has to get two more points in two games less. It's harder than it sounds. Hence, the very low chances.

DET is almost a sure thing at this point (90%) and CBJ can coast to a playoff spot by playing 0.500 hockey.

Personally I'd like to see Pleks and Gio back together,

Why?

Eller between the Gallys.

If I was more witty I might make a joke about Humpty Dumpty having a great fall or eggs being over done or something so I'll just say that the EGG experiment is done. Unless they go into the PO being sheltered again like they were in the beginning of the season plus Eller-Gio seem to be developing some nice chemistry while Pleky gets to continue mentoring the kids although they do seem pretty invisible playing on the first line.

Chucky played pretty good. Brendan had his bell wrung early on and was essentially invisible.

Actually eller gionta looked great only reason you saw bourque. Put bournival there and that line will be awesome.

Bournival is a luxury on the bottom six but you're right. I could have sworn Bourque had an assist on Gio's goal. He still hustled out there and if the goal is to get bigger for the PO, Bourque was our most physical player tonight after Emelin. Plus he played well during last year's PO. I will be keeping a close eye on Borky.

Habs have gone 0-for-17 on the power play in their past five games, but they've outscored their opponents 22-11 at even strength.

yeah,
we're gonna mimic the Broons when they won their cup with next to zero PPP's.

The game tonight proved us that we need to shoot more....a shot is a shot and we got opportunistic and capitalized. This is how habs should have played all year instead of making the perfect play

Having an elite #1 line really is huge. Especially with Price and what is a very good D corps.

This is the best habs team we've had in a while.

Gary Galley -- as much as he is light years ahead better than Healy + Simpson, lately he's really been getting on my nerves:

- Acc. to him, Galchenyuk's goal shouldn't have counted even though Gustaffsson was looking for the shortside save and Chucky's position didn't impede his movement at all. He did try to get over at all, it was too quick. No to mention how emphatically he goes on about how hard Gustaffson was "bumped" and how Chucky was only slightly guided in by Kindle. Then harps on about the disallowed goal for Ottawa.

- Not just Galley (CBC in general) continually cease to recognize Galchenyuk as American. He's Russian. Russian name. He's Russian. This is like the 3rd-4th time I've heard them say this and they cover the Habs a lot.

- Again re: Chucky, apparently while being thrown into the boards by (I think) Quincey, throws an elbow...

- Questioning Gionta's possession of the puck crossing the line for way too long after it happened.

- Railing on White for his penalty over and over, even after it happened, calling it all sorts of versions of "errant reckless use of his stick", when whoever he was covering got under his stick and lifted it right into his own ear. I counted about 4 times that he started going on about it, when he was wrong about it in the first place.

Anyway, CBC...what else is new.

But oh hey, about that game, terrible to see us blow leads (and play like we shouldn't have a lead in the first place, due to D). Great to see us come back like that.

Strong game by the Bourque-Eller-Gio line. DD line was solid too, magic every time. Really hope Patches notches that 40th. Price was fantastic again. Tinordi still has positioning and decision-making issues. PK is still not "back" (though I find it ridiculous that people would consider trading him). Markov-Emelin were terrific. (I don't know how they don't make any comment THERE about Russians when the three players being described are Datsyuk, Emelin and Markov...you'd think maybe some mention of them being Olympic teammates). Briere doing his job when rotated in with Eller's line. White, IMO, another solid performance. Bourni, continues to impress and will for many years to come.

Biggest disappointment: Chucky-Pleks-Gally. I expect them to do so much better. Way too much potential there and I thought there would be chemistry for sure, but way too many pucks in the skates and poor anticipation. Obviously no physical play there when Gallagher is your toughest player. Will be interesting to see what happens it/when we get Prust and Moen back without having played in so long.

All of the goals tonight were off perfect setups. In fact the only goal that wasn't off of a setup was the 3rd wings goal.

galchenyuk considers himself to be american...and plays for america.

And was born in Wisconsin FFS. I guess Gretzky is Ukrainian?

To the game, happy we won, but we need to tighten up on D. But looking at our depth, once we have all our guys back we're looking pretty solid.

That's a very interesting trend, to say the least. It's good to get some 5-on-5 mojo back just before the playoffs.

I think the difference in the even strength scoring aside from the obvious addition of Vanek and Patches going on a mad tear is that the habs are going to those dirty spots in front of the net even our smaller players. IMHO I think our PP will spark at some point. We seem to be getting the chances and the shots. I think Subban is in a bit of a funk right now too and when he starts rolling again, so will the PP
