Sorry to say it folks, but what's happening now with the Marner bashing is part of the reason this franchise will not succeed.

Why do we do this? We will end up driving this kid out of town. Even if Dubas doesn't want to deal him, who's going to want to play here under these circumstances? That's exactly the recipe for a bad trade.

Perhaps we need to find a happy medium between Plan the Parade (a week ago?) and what's happening now.

Perhaps the fragility of this team is reflective of the fragility of this fanbase. Let's practise some patience and break this cycle?

Because you know Mitch Marner comes out of this a changed man. We've all had to learn some hard lessons in life before we changed something that needed to be changed.

What just happened might be the worst thing that happens to this franchise in quite some time, but it could be the best thing, if some patience is exercised.

5 years. We all defended him for 5 years, despite him coming up short in the POs every year. Holding your 11M dollar player accountable is not the problem. The 11m dollar player refusing to show up to work is the problem. What is your excuse for him this year ? Are the fans just supposed to take his word for it AGAIN 5 years in a row "We need to be better" We need to show up on time" bud, my beard has turned grey listening to you repeat the same shit over and over.

There's nothing wrong with holding him accountable. He's been garbage every post-season regardless of who we are against, it's unacceptable.

It is a great narrative for sure .. but real issue is stride length and strength and I doubt Mitch can fix either .. he tries harder than anyone else on da ice already .. it is why he gets so many regular season points .. in playoffs as game picks up another level he can't physically do it folks .. he just does not have those God given skills .. i wish I could tell you something else but da truth always prevails

I don’t agree it’s the fans fault they lost, but the narrative of players not wanting to play in TO because of how brutal the media/fans can be is definitely thing. I know this posses many off and they will deny it, but it’s 100% true and social media is making this worse.

I remember back when Reimer played here, he talked about his wife receiving I believe it was death threats from crazy fans.

While I disagree that fans are the problem, the scrutiny, pressure, and immense media coverage all play a part in my opinion.

Maybe it’s too much pressure on the players to perform.

Maybe one day, a Leafs team will succeed when no one expects anything from them anymore.

This is total BS. We stick by this team for decades. Marner rolls in here with lots of razzle dazzle, totally scams Dubas then disappears in the playoffs.
He deserves all the shade he is getting.
He thought he was a big shot player and deserved super star money.
I wouldn’t even put him in the top 25-30:players in the league and certainly near the bottom of his peer group

Unfortunately no, at least not anymore and certainly not since the contracts became more important than the game.

Marner drove himself out of town all on his own (well with help from his father and agents). Marner literally went from the golden child that everyone loved , to the spoiled entitled greedy douchebag in a matter of weeks. Terribly shallow public statements and now years of the same excuses in why he didnt preform. Yeah Dubas is at fault for actually signing those contracts prematurely, but those players were making the ultimatums and threats so as fans who pay those salaries from tickets, merch, and subscriptions we have every right to expect 11million dollars worth of performance every game and twice that in the playoffs

Also, why in the world do you think Mitch Marner comes out a changed man THIS TIME? This is the 5th time for the playoffs and this doesnt include dozens and dozens of regular season games where he and the team have found exceptional ways to lose games or not even show up.

I'll agree that the team played exactly how I felt yesterday, terrified of losing.

I show up to work and try my hardest for peanuts compared to these guys. Atleast leave it all on the ice. The fear paralysis that the big boys .. especially marner showed.. I just feel bad for them. Not even mad anymore. Send him somewhere else for his own mental sanity.

First, he is not a kid.
Second. If you are not ready for the pressure from the fans, why hold out for that much money? If he is still a Leaf, and improve, it will probably blow over. Nylander took alot of heat for example, and did not seem all that bothered. Now he was our best player.

I actually checked your other posts to see if you could be a burner account for Mitch's mom :) Or he could be shattered by this failure or has another great regular season and a playoff choke next year, who can say? Also when pointing a finger at Mitch you are pointing a finger at his cap bite even more than the player. This isn't addition by subtraction because they can add a $5M and $6M player and one of those guys will replace a Thornton or a Simmonds with a player who still has their high end game. This core has failed in three game 7s in a row and something has to give. JT has a NT so you look at either AM or MM and Mitch has been the least effective playoff contributor of the two.

And how many game 7 fails does it actually take to change someone? What if its more than 3? Any deal has to be a win or you don't do it but its really time they took a hard look at what he could bring back.

this happens in every market. It's not just a toronto thing though. It's probably worse is places like Boston and Philadelphia where the media is 100% more critical and vocal when they lose.

If he's offended for sucking out the joint in every playoff over the last 5 years, good riddance.

The fact that we still have Marner fans here is a big issue of this fanbase.

Let Seattle take him and spend that $11 mil to get something else.

The change should have happened two or three first round failures ago. I’ve defended Mitch a lot over the last few years but the same thing keeps happening. This was not his first rodeo.

I have never wanted to see player run out of town, not ever until now.

Here's Marner spotted leaving for the cottage thinking about us Leafs fans and drown his sorrows this offseason.
