We should start talking about Shane Wright

The lack of quality of the top of that draft class was way overblown. Going to be a lot of good players coming out of that top 10.
That's always how it goes. Every draft that claims to be weak in hindsight always ends up being a strong draft. People need to get over the narrative that just because there isn't a guaranteed #1 guy, it makes the draft weak. Look at 2017. People said weak draft yet out of that weak draft we have a potential generational d-man in Makar, a top line two way center in Nico, Petterson who is another top line center, Heiskanan who is one of the best d men in the league. Plus a million other names. The only one who was a straight up disappointment is Nolan Patrick. That's as good as it gets. This year will be no exception.

I legit forgot this guy was even in the NHL or on Seattle until I seen a Twitter post saying he was coming back up

Besides their D-1 and D-2 years, he has had basically the exact same stats in the exact same leagues as Connor McMichael. He'll be a good player, but not the generational guy he was expected to be

I never gave up on Lafreniere and said so many times on the Lafreniere/ Eanger bashing threads that were out ip over and over.
Shane Wright ?
His upside is not high ad Lafrenieres. But I think he will blossom into a decent all round player. This humbling experiences with pro level hockey if nothing else will force him to work and improve ALL parts of his game.
Francis wont give up on him too soon.

Who expected Shane Wright to be generational?
Fans grasp onto the fact that he was granted exceptional status like a JT/McDavid, then he must be an amazing prospect/player in the future. They clearly forgot about the other great exceptional status players like Joe Veleno and Sean Day.

Talking to hab fans that wanted him at the time of the draft was insane. So many of them were persistent on the fact that he was a lock for number 1 and all this other shit. I remember being called a troll and shit simply because I said I dont think he will go 1st overall.

He was granted exceptional status and earmarked as the 1oa in his class 3 years before being taken at 4oa. Probably should've used "franchise" instead but there's a big drop between that and McMichael, who was taken 25oa and in his D+6 is finally solidifying himself as a complimentary 2LW

His all around game has improved leaps and bounds, but he's got to find a way to get more involved offensively and get shots to the net.

10 SOG in 10 games isn't gonna cut it. He's got a great snap shot, but he hasn't been able to use it.

I will grant you "franchise" but not and never "generational."
