We Need A Finisher

Seriously, he reminds me of Sergei Berezin who could fire the puck but could never hit the net, and Michael Grabner who while he was with the Leafs could do everything but score.

It eventually turned around for Grabner, and I think it will turn around for Mikheyev too. Patience is a virtue.

The Leafs do have other players who can put the biscuit in the basket as well. I have no worries there.

What they really need is a game-saving goalie. The Freddie show is wearing on me.

Berezin had 37 goals in this league 25 in his rookie season

he also has multiple key goals in playoffs including game winning goals

He was a stellar finisher. He was what Kessel is today

Nylander scored 31 in a shortened season. He is a goal scorer. Tavares is also a goal scorer. His hands around the net are elite.

the problem with the Leafs comes down to paying Mitch Marner too much for very little goal scoring. He's getting paid on par with Tavares and Matthews and he's a pure playmaker.

Hyman scored more goals than Marner last season and the same thing is going to happen again this season.

Leafs needed to pay Marner less and spend the savings on a Hoffman type playing on a discount in STL.

WRONG ... we need a SHUTDOWN line for playoffs ... a completely dominate shutdown line to have on ice with Muzzy and Bogo to end games

You can use your fancy stats all you want but at the end of the day we need a finisher to put us over the top.
Technically you may be right, but, mechanically im correct.

Joe Thornton is absolutely horrible.
He isn't a top 6 player. Shouldn't be in the NHL.

But the Leafs have a fetish for old players.

All he does is stand still, skate slow, and turn over the puck.

I know everyone wants him to be part of a cup run, but if we keep him in we’re not winning any cup

Yes, folks, it's Nicolas Robertson, the 19 year old kid, who has a whopping TWO goals in the AHL this year, who is going to the Leafs saviour, and ultimate finisher.

That isn't to say he won't have a great career, but to somehow think this kid is ready, and will instantly be the finisher we need to get us over the top.....

Out your men's league stat line.

Joe is putting up 3-8-11 in 16. He still sees the ice well and is a good piece of the power play. Find a new slant.

second in goals per game ....... technically and mechanically u are wrong.

the get goalied in a few games and all of a sudden we need a finisher. you know what this team doesnt need ... a finisher who doesnt backcheck and is a defensive liability,

Thornton allows Hyman to play outside of the first line if needed.

Hyman -Matthews - Marner : 63.8% xGF
Thornton - Matthews - Marer : 62.6% xGF

He seems to be almost as good of a passenger as Hyman on that line.

He is super slow, I agree with that, but he has worked well with Matthews and Marner.

I would rather get a defensively sound player at this point. We can score..we showed that we can lock it down somewhat against the Oilers...people that continue to want more scoring don't realize a lot (if not most) of the scoring players are liabilities in their own end. We don't need Jimmy Vesey ...we need more Engvall or Mikeyhev's to win a few rounds.

Taylor Hall is not easy to play with apparently...he is a puck hog according to his former team mates and it takes a certain type to mesh with him. If McDavid can't play with you...I don't want you either.

Guy has 4 GP 4 1 3 A 4 PTS in the AHL. Not sure if he's found his level down there or if he's on the upswing as far as being rebuilt for NHL service.

Is it just me or has he regressed defensively? I mean...he looks like its 2014 again before Babs came in. Or maybe...its because Brodie actually knows how to play D and we haven't had anyone remotely close to that besides Muzzin in like forever. Reilly has a decent clapper...when he uses it..but he insists on the limp wrister from the point to try and get tips in.
