Post-Game Talk: We lose

Attendance for the game tonight was 13,590. There’s a lot that goes into that number (absurdly high ticket prices, vax mandates, COVID concerns, etc) and attendance is down league wide but when’s the last time a Ranger game at MSG had a crowd for a regular season game that small?

There's a difference between "he's sucked so far he better wake up" and "his contract is an albatross and he sucks".

Nobody is making excuses, he hasn't been good at all, but calling his contract an albatross after 2 consecutive MVP level seasons just after a slow 7 game start is a bit much.

Thank you. Nobody is defending his play, he hasn't been good let alone what we need him to be. But the overreactions the other way are too much.

Panarin and Zibanejad need to stop playing like ass. Also signs of life from Lafreniere would help.

Shesty was great again. Decent chances throughout the game so not a total David Quinn style no-show.

If Panarin and Zib finally show up and Laf and Kakko take the next steps offensively then we are dangerous.

13,000? omg especially after a successful road trip? That is pathetic. I don't think it's the high prices. It's been a long time Ranger games haven't been high priced. The other two reasons are probably legit.

The defense was awful but I have a hard time saying any goalie in the history of the NHL was great when he gave up 5 goals.

I'm not seeing the cause for panic others are here.

The start to any season doesn't tell us much. You'd like to drop as few points as possible early, but the standings don't tell you much for another few weeks at least.

I think as some of the other posters here have noted, NYR is going to have to start playing better in transition. The non-Panarin/Zibby lines are going to need to go a bit slower- send a third man deep more often and be comfortable dumping the puck in more often than not.

Fox can do breakouts by himself with the skill lines, but we need more Tortorella style hockey from the bottom 6.

2 MVP seasons mean absolutely f***ing nothing this year. Time moves forwards not backwards.

Rangers got very lucky not having many home games early in the season.
 
Watching the Jets, Knicks, and Rangers in a little more than a 24-hour window destroys what's left of my soul. What an awful sports day. I can't even talk about sports right now.
