Oiler fans that lack perspective: “HES THE WORST GOALIE OF ALL TIME”

Oiler fans with the ability to think: “a bad team dealing a goalie would probably have interest in a young, inexpensive goalie with a bit of upside that has room to improve, but he’s not a fit on a team that needs to win now.”

I hope they can swindle a team that believes he has potential. And hope management had the balls to make the move to begin with

This is true. They gave the keys to a guy who had never built a team before.
Technically they copied the keys and gave the POHO a dummy set, then told him who had the real keys.

Even if Jackson had been amazing, the way it was done was gross, and Holland is a HOFer. It looked disgusting, and with hindsight it was nuclear bad, so Katz is 100% to blame; the path to the top should not be the owner's ear. It's still a gong show.

Selling low on Skinner won’t get you anything of value. They hooped themselves by standing pat.

What are you willing to lose to achieve the prayer of “selling high” on him? Miss the playoffs? Miss the window entirely?

What a ridiculous statement. What’s even the upside “selling high?” A 2nd at best? What are we even talking about here?

Get a goalie here that isn’t junk to save the season and send him the other way. Not that complicated.

He has value as a backup who needs a change of scenery

No timely saves, not enough timely goals.

Just poor play all around masked by Draisaitl’s heroic play.

Stecher showed why he should be in the lineup though, he’s still the best partner for Nurse on this team.

Also lol at Skinner not even attempting to go the bench at the end. f*** off.
Skinner should have went to the bench after the 3rd goal against.

Exactly. It's not much different than San Jose getting Georgiev. I recall Buffalo also got serious value back by getting goalies, letting them bounce back, and flipping them. Skinner is a great candidate for that imo
Skinner is a backup being asked to do more than he is capable of. He's nowhere georgiev bad, he's just in way, way over his head. Plenty of teams would take him in a heartbeat.

A lot of poeple said when the Oilers drafted McDavid that the organization was so poorly run that they would figure out a way to f**k things up.
They are well on their way to doing just that and Katz is a major reason why.

They have exactly one thing of value. Skinner has no value.

Don't want to be accused of being a body language expert, but does Drai give Stu a pretty shitty look and/or potentially say something to him there?
If he did he’s well within his right. He wears an A and leads by example. Not like Nuge would, he’d need to yell at the guy in the mirror first. It’s actually mind boggling watching Nuge play with an A on his chest.

Plus, it's not like we'd be trading Skinner for any other reason than to get his cap space back.

But honestly, my preference would be to get a new goalie and keep Skinner, if we can afford it

I mean berating yourself isn’t good. But I have heard him say before he suffers from mental health issues. But then he spouts sunshine and butterflies when he’s playing poorly. I don’t think being honest with yourself helps in any event.

We might want to start steering clear of goalies with mental health issues. We’re now 0/2 on those.

Thats a bit of an overstatment considering Ekholm has had to cover for Bouchard who really has been dogshit.

That aside...name a player aside from Draisaitl has has been good the past 10-12 games?
All season Guy, seriously. Compared to the level they're expected to perform, I can't even count on one hand any players that have performed to expectations or exceeded. Exceeded was Kulak and Perry the first half but they've slowed down, Nurse to expectations for a while but he's levelled off. That's it, can't think of one other player that's played to expectations even, Emberson I'd throw in there but he's kind of inconsequential, Podkolzin I suppose. It's a miracle the Oilers are even in a playoff position considering all that.

Skinner would seem to be the perfect #1 for a team seriously looking at lotto balls. Can't think any other reason anybody would want him. Imagine a #1 goalie on a top 8NHL team and he only has a .500 record. He's not much. On a bad team he'd have the club cratering to last place.
