We Have A Gm Problem

This guy can't seem to figure out the Hawks can't force UFA's to sign here.
no I completely understand it..but the rumors are out that Blackhawks are out on Marner even before FA begins...also these same people who "cant seem to figure out the Hawks cant force UFA's" to sign here seem to think missing Marner is ok because Kaprizov is the target next yr...wouldn't the same principle apply??? So nobody wants to play for the Blackhawks like ever..got it

The Hawks will become a more attractive destination for UFA's, as their young talent starts lifting the team.

They are not an attractive destination now, and have not been for a while.

How hard is this to understand?

you and I don't seem to see the roster the same way. If the goal is to be bad and tank to get young players those players you acquire through draft that takes a lot of time. We are now in yr going on 5 on KD roster. You cannot simply continue to be bad and then hope in 5-7 yrs all these young guys all hit and pan out and become superstars. You need to acquire a mixture of players to hit the next level..its the mixture of players not the prospects that I think KD is missing out on. Bedard is the rare young guy who can step in after drafted and play in yr 1..most drafted guys are 2 yrs after draft before coming in and contributing and that's if its done properly..IE see Korchinski. So this undetermined player we draft at #3 likely wont play or contribute until what 2027 at earliest so then lets say we hit on McKenna draft that is 2028 but him alone wont take us over the top from bottom 2 team to a playoff team so its another year after that of now hoping Bedard, Nazar, Moore, Levshunov, Rinzel, Vanacker, Lardis, Korchinski, all hit and become studs...yes I want them all to pan out but that's just not NHL reality. You need to augment the roster with younger guys ..the Cozens, Gauthier, Howards when they become available..so far KD is standing on sidelines..I hope I am wrong but his pattern of just being bad wont go over well with a guy like Bedard

Again, how are they supposed to acquire a guy like Cozens when they clearly don't have what Buffalo was looking for?

You keep saying the Hawks should be in on trades, but continually ignore the fact that they have no assets to trade, other than picks, which many teams aren't looking for.

Well obviously we should’ve offered Reichel and Dickinson. How can the Sabres say no to that

Believe it or not, but baseball and hockey are vastly different sports and comparing them to each other is idiotic.
When someone is trying to hail Mary Davidson is the best GM in this city, pointing out obvious facts to the contrary stops that type of thinking dead in its tracks.

The Cubs don't have a gm problem.....

He's actually entering his fourth effective season (2025/2026). His first draft was in July 2022. Davidson did not plan the 2021/22 season, Bowman was fired in October.

2022-23
2023-24
2024-25

you know.....
that someone......
made a really good point......
when they start leaving.....
elipses everywhere......
to imply pregnant pauses......
as though.....
they've said something.......
so profound.......
as to render them speechless....
at their own profundity.....
and now have to sit......
in quiet contemplation...
of their own wisdom............

my bad he was hired Oct 2021..so 4 seasons completed going into 5th season
You may recall that this was months after Bowman traded most of their remaining near-future assets for Seth Jones. The rebuild didn't begin until Spring 2022. It's been three calendar years going into a fourth and KD inherited an aging team with a pretty empty cupboard. Nothing at all surprising about the timeline he's working on so far.

In 2022 the Hawks team average age was 27.3, which was like 13th youngest in the league. The stupid GM inherited a young team, so that's just a lie.

He also had 40 goal scorer Debrincat and future 90 pt player Hagel already on the team. Both young players who haven't been replaced along with Vlasic, Allan, Reichel, and EDM in the fold along with Bust Dach. The cupboard wasn't bare, Davidson chose to trade away elite talent for nickels on the dollar.

Bowman was rebuilding while also trying to be competitive.

Yes, and that was working out so well, what with our best center being Kirby Dach, our best winger being Alex DeBrincat, our best D being Seth Jones, and our best goalie being Kevin Lankinen.

What a roster Bowman was assembling! We would've had multiple cup final appearances, but Davidson f***ed it all up.

as best as i can tell, you got that number from an article that is specifically titled "Average Age of Each NHL Roster At The End of 2022-23 season", published april 19th, 2023. bowman was fired for more than a year lmao.

you should have looked into it more because the actual number is even more easy for you to present dishonestly. the average age of the 2021-22 hawks was 26.9 to end the season. a november survey in the athletic had them at 26.5. eliteprospects says 25.7. which sounds great, and technically satisfies the criterion of slightly-greater-than-average-youth, but then you look at who was actually playing for the team.

these are the u-26 skaters with 100+ minutes on the season:
galvas
reichel
slavin
hardman
200+:
katchouk
vlasic
regula
300+:
raddysh
r. johnson
500+:
borgstrom
entwhistle
700+:
stillman
c. jones
kurashev
hagel
1000+:
strome
dach
debrincat

mind you, to my knowledge those average age figures from before don't account for time played, so we might as well add honorable mentions for nicolas beaudin, isaak phillips, wyatt kalynuk, and generational ian mitchell. that's 22 younger-than-average players and half of them played less than 300 minutes. a pile of garbage with basically just (to varying degrees) debrincat, strome, hagel, and vlasic being full-time difference-makers today. that core was aging, and the evidence is this mountain of futility and mediocrity seen above that were supposed to plug the gaps. a consequence of throwing a bunch of elc's at the wall hoping a few stick (i.e. stan's idea of "retooling") is that you artificially deflate the average age of the team with a rotating band of nobodies going nowhere.

The stupid GM inherited a young team, so that's just a lie.
at least pull the right number to misrepresent so that i don't have to dig around confused to figure out how i am supposed to be laughing at you.

I really feel like he would go away if he stopped getting attention. Or at least he would find more creative ways to troll.
look, not engaging when there's no productive discussion or entertaininment to be had? i can do that. but someone makes an easily understandable clerical error confusing nhl seasons because they span two calandar years? sorry, but i can't help myself.
