We Have A Gm Problem

What do you expect, the thread's name is "we have a gm problem".
The person who started this thread clearly does not understand the concept of a rebuild and thought we were going to be competitive in 2 years lmao. Never mind that the majority of the first rounders of the 23 draft aren’t even consistent nhl players yet and only one second round pick from that year has even played a game. Dummies think it’s the NFL where you can be bad for one year and become a playoff contender the following year.

Some of you may know I have my fair share of problems with Twitler (as evidenced by me continually misspelling it's name), but even taking out my feelings on it's owner, that site (and most social media sites similar to it) absolutely suck for discussing hockey in depth.

It's so much better to be able to converse with a group of recognizable names/avatars in a nice and neat thread rather than looking for some opinions from thousands of random losers on the internet. Not to mention not having to be limited by the amount of characters in a post.

Only thing that would be an improvement on a site like Twitler (over HF) is that Fiddy's posts would be considerably shorter.
While I agree twitter is a cesspool that's very incelcentric by design, trying to frame musk with an evil human being who almost took out an entire race of ppl is a stretch.

As a cyber truck owner, I find this offensive.

We do have some moderators *cough cough*
I don't own this site. Pretty sure Shogun and Disgruntled don't either.

And until one of us wins the lottery and buys this forum, we're stuck following the guidelines that the higher ups have set. If someone doesn't quite break their rules, or doesn't break it often enough, our hands are tied.

allow me to be the first to express my deepest gratitude to you for your service

Okay, last attempt.

Depth in the org. They had all summer to build a plan based on likely scenarios, like that a coach who had lost the lockerroom for half the year, of a team that was a smoldering dumpster fire, may not bounce back and defy the odds.
Hard to believe he lost locker room because this past season is only one that LR team had real system.

Totally agree I just joined HF yesterday and find it way more interesting and engaging. HockeyTwitter is just a cesspool for grifters now.

Lulz. KD will either succeed or fail. His fans and detractors will play no part in that. What people say on Twitter means nothing.
Yeah I think I probably used too many words but meant to say separately 1. This is year 1 of KD roster evaluation 2. I hate Blackhawks twitter right now (which probably influences my negativity towards KD because his supporters on twitter are cringe)

Imagine bragging that you're a cyber truck owner.

"Hey all! Check out this dumpster on wheels that I bought for an idiotic amount of money!"

Meanwhile the dumpster is actually sturdier and more reliable than the piece of shit that is the cyber truck.

being I am original poster of this thread I will respond. I never said competitive in 2yrs. stop with the hyperbole. I am all on board the rebuild plan.. however we are going into yr freaking 5 not yr 2. My expectations changed when we landed Bedard. I expected to still be bad, but I also expect the GM to stop signing wash out vets and try and acquire younger players to compliment Bedsy. Like I have literally said this multiple damn times why is that so hard?

And that's are terrible point! The whole topic of when we got Bedard, it should change nothing, was stated by many.

The rebuild is not Bedard.

It also is odd you count the year, they weren't trying to be bad as part of the rebuild. 2021-2022 was not a year going into it as the rebuild because they traded their 1st.

I don't trust KD at all and I think the Blashill hire was not ideal and am concerned with how he projected this years team to be a wildcard team and Sorenson was mostly a disaster but I think 25-26 will be the first year where we can truly judge KD. If there's no progress and there is no improvement in 5-on-5 play, he needs to go.

I think what we can all agree on is that the Blackhawks have a regime twitter problem. The insufferable KD sycophants/worshippers become more and more intolerable every day. The degree of brainrot needed to believe that Nick Lardis will magically put Chicago in the playoffs next year....
Nah, that would still be too soon.

I don’t agree to that either. I don’t read twitter or consider what fans say a problem.

The clock starts the day KD took over..period..it was known he was going to rebuild. I feel like people are just giving him a free pass. I get rebuilds take a while to do them properly. I get it...but we landed what was touted as a generational player in Bedard and KD has done absolutely nothing to compliment him as a player. Why is everyone just willing to give KD a free pass? This is like the Bears drafting Caleb Williams but not giving him any WRs.

Since drafting Bedard, what was KD supposed to do? What kind of players were available to acquire to compliment Bedard to your liking? He tried to sign Guentzel but he didn't want to come here. Who else could he have signed or traded for that would have satisfied you?

glad you asked- I would have traded for McGroarty, Cozens, Laine last yr. Not all but tried for 1

Thank god 2 of those 3 didn't come close to happening. (McG and Laine) Cozens would have been a gamble, but he played well in Ottawa down the stretch.
Ya I wanted Laine just due to younger age but kid seems to be made of glass.. I am still in on McGroarty though he just needs time. Next season will be huge for him.. Cozens would have been match made in heaven for Bedsy

And what would you have liked for him to offer to acquire any of those players? I don't think the Blackhawks have anything that Buffalo would have wanted to get Cozens.
I dunno they got only Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker back. They gave up Cozens and a 2nd rd pick.

Josh Norris is a 26 year old legit middle 6 NHL player. The Blackhawks have zero legit NHL players between 24 and 28 and I don't think there is any legit NHL player on the Blackhawks' roster under 28 that I would have traded for Dylan Cozens and his contract.

They just don't have the kind of assets that teams want when they trade legit NHL talent.
