from someone who's always quick to excuse anything with some good vibes only take as if it's straight from the Blackhawks PR team.
Nope, try again. I'm a "realist", not a homer ("all our prospects are amazing and will be superstars soon") or super jaded because I fully expect a team of low-valued 30-somethings to suck and think it's probably best that they do, so I'm not gonna lose my sh*t that the Hawks aren't sitting in 24th place just so people trying to save their job can call it "progress".

I don't care who the Coach or GM are, and I don't care if they both get fired. Sounds callous, but it's how I feel. I care about how good the Hawks are in six or seven years above anything else.

We have been lot better in D-zone this season than many seasons before including before KD and LR.

Goal scoring been suprisingly hard. Bertuzzi and Teräväinen should have helped. Not many injuries so no need to bring kids up from Rockford. Kids might bring new perspective on O-zone.

Also over ripening prospects is not a real thing. They’re either ready or they’re not. It’s a Stevie Y bullshit concept, who is also terrible at building teams.
Bless you sir.

Almost got hit in Detroit last decade for saying how overrated Stevie Y is as a management type. TB was the among the greatest situations any manager could ever walk into when he took the job, same for Detroit. Even better than what KD walked into.

"Overipening" is a nonsense talking point. Sure some general rules apply based on physical development and role and technical proficiency for some depth players but the "overripening" thing is a horsesh$t-spreadsheet-video game concept that should be jettisoned into the sun with several elements of this Danny-boy lead rebuild.

We have been lot better in D-zone this season than many seasons before including before KD and LR.
When you have 3 or 4 skaters behind your own blueline half a dozen strides before the puck enters the zone, your defensive metrics are going to be pretty good and your offense is going to suck since your scheme involved giving away massive chunks of ice all day.

Six or seven years huh? That's a ridiculously long time, and a whole shitload of losing.

If they aren't at least on the verge of being a .500 team by the 2026-27 season, then we should be talking about who replaced KD and who is replacing LR's replacement.

This team has already been really bad for 3 years, and this is year 4 of them being really bad again. 3rd straight year with a top 3 pick in all likelihood.

That doesn't even get into how much cap space they have to use with the influx of young talent.

That 1st year was a different focus where they didn't want to be shit, just were; They didn't have their 1st rounder. (Unless they won the lottery, still shocking to me like 2/3 people here voted they wanted to win that lottery)

So this is year 3 of intentionally being shit. There was no scenario with a different way unless they didn't go all out and kept some of Dach, Hagel, Cat, or Kane around. I felt it was clear as day this was the incoming results.

Prospects take time, we didn't really start rebuilding until 2022, when they traded Cat and Dach. 3-5 years for prospects is a reasonable timeline to expect.

So in 3+ years from this past draft we should expect to see much more progress than we will see this year, and next year.

It's not unreasonable to think that 2027-28 is where we will finally start to be a legit team again, or at least see the makings of it like we did in 2008-09. If it's year 2028-29 and they are still a shit team, it was probably a failure.

Not this bad. And not regression from your cornerstone piece.
Yes it was clearly on this path. That's why for the 22-23 season a lot of times i said, timeline wise Michkov fits way better, thinking he'd avoid these years.(thinking he'd stay in the khl his contract time) but others mentioned, oh this timeline fit is off with Bedard joining now. Not that you'd pass on him

They were tearing down for a clear multi year wave of bad because it was all they could do after the Bowman push to stay afloat for years and Jones trade shipping assets.

Tear down rebuilds in this league lead to this wave of badness, and nobody typically wins much for years nor likely wins a round if they do reach the playoffs at all until after 6/7 seasons. That's true of all the modern and even some historic tear downs like Mario's penguins.

He's not far off the same pace as Kane was in his second year - yet with far worse talent around him.

The team overall should be much better, but I believe they lead the league in EN goals allowed with 11 or some shit. Easily could have won a few more games than their record indicates, which would put them in the 24pt range.

I'd lean it's more a coaching issue than personnel.

Progress doesn't have to be wins, but what are they doing well, other than lighting Danny Boy's money on fire and not looking/sounding terrible in front of a microphone?

I want Kyle to make some moves within the next 2 months. Open a roster spot on D by trading Murphy or hope someone takes Brodie off our hands (doubt it).
Open a spot for Nazar.

We have guys waiting to get that chance. We need that change and progress.

I think 30-40 games is enough for Nazar and having a spot for Kaiser/Crevier/Allen every game. Still can get Phillips or EDM as call up for injuries.

Some will take it and show that it was deserved.
