Theres reasons I constantly said before the lotto drop id rather have Michkov, not that I'd of taken him after getting the 1st overall.

I didnt think there was much apart from the 2, but also because the tear down was going to lead to multiple years like this that Michkov could of missed, maybe he'd stay in the khl another year if this was the blackhawks club he was joining. And I was fearing the Blackhawks rushing make bad signings.

Apart from Brodie, yeah the deals are fine. But I do think expectations were still too high. I didnt think all of the Entwhistles, Tindori, etc guys were going to be gone. Even without them, talent wise I'm not expecting this to be beyond a bottom 3 team. I even said when people expect the 20pt leap to a 70-75 pt team, that may be expecting too much.

Yes, aside from that.

We wouldn’t have been in a better position had KD not torn things down and started fresh. Maybe we got Bedard too early in our rebuild and now he doesn’t have support, that’s a fair critique, but he went out and signed two top 9 UFA’s in Bertuzzi and Teravainen to very good deals. What else do you want from him?

It’s simply too early for this level of critique. Give it a few years and if it looks like our picks aren’t panning out and our prospects aren’t developing then I’ll agree with you
Making a team really bad is easy. I'm not out on KD but I'm far from impressed.

Making this Bedard vs Michkov already is silly, a Bedard slump with absolute bums on his line is a 70 pt player, move him to right wing, staple Nazar to his line as his center and give it the rest of the year to see what happens...they have to move him to RW and tell him f*** defense go fix your offensive game, this year is toast anyway what does it matter, its getting him back in a good place offensively heading into next year when presumably the young talent starts to hit the roster and they add a top 2 pick that actually matters, and if luke is standing in the way of that fire him and have king take over again

Guys, stop suggesting moving Bedard to wing unless you want him to be a winger long term. It's not a solution. And certainly throwing Nazar onto his line and putting those two out against the toughest matchups every night is not going to do anything but f*** them both over.

Keep Nazar in the AHL. Put Teravainen and Foligno on his wings and leave the line alone.

How are people still giving Davidson and pass after passing on Demidov? How? This is a literal disaster, do you people not see this? Do you people really need to see it happen to believe it? Demidov is gonna come to the NHL and light it up with multiple 100+ point seasons and we are gonna end up with nothing close to that, no way in hell Levshunov ends up being a top 10D in the league, I bet he wasn’t even the best D in that draft and we will witness this very soon, this was the Hawks ultimate chance at that top elite duo that wins cups. This guy has to go, how are you people so blind?

God I wish downvotes were a thing on this board.

If you want Bedard to hit his 99th percentile offensive outcome you move him to RW, the sample size is getting large enough to draw some conclusions that it might be the best long term move for his development

The sample size of playing on a historically bad team and being coached through it all by Luke "let's make him a checker" Richardson? Ok.

Davidson is frozen. His initial plan didn’t work, but he has no backup plan. He might be cocky enough to say this is totally fine.

A GM worth a damn gives this team a different look. Call someone up, make a trade, fire any of the coaches, DO SOMETHING.

But if he doesn’t want to, he can always step down and let someone worth a damn do the job.

I’d say Danny Wirtz has a bigger problem than anyone. The team’s lackluster performance, TV issues, and the shine coming off the tear down stage of the rebuild has to really be impacting his bottom line.

He’s going to be looking for a win anywhere he can take. Wonder what levers he is willing to pull?

Note: DrumMan44 does not endorse the practice of owner interference in professional sports management.

Hawks are 21 out of 32 in attendance by %.

Between that and the TV debacle…. Yeah, the rebuild is probably finally starting to hit the Wirtz family financially.

it's a manifold of several failures that are all underpinned by the fact that no one, not even the people who put it together, expected this team to win. no one expects a roster with 6 million dollars worth of 2024 taylor hall as the highest paid forward to win, unless you're betting on a low percentage resurgence (buying a lottery ticket). at the same time, no one signs serial underachiever tyler bertuzzi to 4 at 5.5 unless the realization has set in that even teams that are actively trying to get the first overall pick need talent on them. both are cases where a player is getting overpaid relative to their role and contribution, and they are far from the only ones. hall might be the most egregious example though.

it all threatens to be a bunch of half-baked pseudo-moneyball market inefficiency chasing that all amounts to the same buying lotto tickets behavior. so far the only one he's unequivocally hit on is bedard, and it has only proven that you have to hit on a lot more than just one if this approach is going to work.

one of the things that should have been recognized coming out of this offseason is that davidson basically punted on two more seasons, this one and the next. there are only two roster forwards signed past 25-26, bertuzzi and tt. if the salary cap continues to grow as advertised, and neither of these guys regress, then maybe they turn into solid deals for a couple of second liners. i'm not convinced either is a particularly threatening nhl top six option in today's day, much less the far tomorrow's, but neither is totally catastrophic. besides that it's clear they have all their eggs in the basket of a massive youth movement over the next two seasons.

which if that's the plan, and the plan is also to retain luke richardson through this period, then that is clearly taking shape as massive cause for concern. if he were still just an assistant coach he would probably be fine. he seems to have done a fine job with many of the defensive rookies, but young forwards are withering, and he is not particularly skilled at managing his bench. if he's just there to coach a rag tag group of over paid veteran place holders, and he's gone by the time they start moving in the next crop of young guys, then it may be salvagable, but the damage being done is starting to become undeniable.

Regardless of improved goal diff, better structure, etc., this team is beyond boring to watch and its not like we're winning much during the process

with that being said, the only thing that REALLY matters is Bedard developing and, uh, yikes. What a shit show of a season so far
