Lundy did prove to be the star of the series. Given the home court bias, I hate to say it but it's possible that the Rangers could have won without Lundy if they had Rask, Price or Crawford, etc during their cup years? Still in all, Lundy needs to be the best Ranger on the ice to win a series and he was. He is currently playing his best hockey and I've noticed that he usually has trouble focusing until the games mean the most.

After game 4, I remember walking out of the garden expecting that I just saw the last game of the season. I thought back to why I believed Pitts was vulnerable after struggling against the Jackets. As I replayed the Ranger series in my mind, I didn't believe they were truly outplayed but they still trailed 3-1 in games played. However, the team seemed to phone in game 4 so I was sure they were done.

So, the team moves on. The competition will only get stronger. I suspect that we will see a better scoring team than Pitts whoever wins the Boston/Mont series. We also will see better goal tending and a better Defensive game from the opponent. The Rangers can't afford to take game off if they wish to remain competitive. While I believe the odds of advancing to the cup is not a strong likelihood, many teams have ridden hot goaltenders before. In the meantime, after being down to the Pens 3-1 I believe the Rangers are truly playing with house money.

A great series, a better finish. On to the Eastern conference finals.

This board can really go from "Nothing can happen" to "Everything will happen" in a hurry.

I don't know if you'd all heard, but Bylsma, not the Rangers, was the reason the Pens lost this series.

He's the reason why Crosby had one goal all playoffs, too.

Letangs sucker punch on Moore during that mad scramble is the reason I hate these entitled piece of **** Penguins. Have fun on the golf course boys.

Oh, and suck it, Sid.

It's surreal. I am still in shock.

Richards is living up to his playoff clutchness again. Hank was just nuts. Just an unreal team win.

Here is the 4 save sequence:

I know people will call me crazy, but I think the last save is Hank's best as a Ranger. It might not have been his most athletic, but considering the situation, what it led to, that he had no stick, that it deflected 6" in front of him off a stick randomly, and that he made the save without using his glove/just his body. I've watched it half a dozen times now, and I still think the puck is going to go in every time I do.

Its so nice that were actually gonna get 3-4 days of rest now. Not to mention to be able to watch the other games knowing we have already advanced. FeelsgoodMan.

Yup.

I still can't believe that didn't go in.

Islanders fan here (can't you tell? ;) ) saying congrats - I might be the only Isle fan who actually likes the Rangers...

Anyway, a few thoughts:

1- I like Alain V a lot, but vehemently dislike his NY Jets'-style/try-not-to-lose "pass-prevent" defense; just sitting back in your zone, letting the Pens fire away while trying to block shots and relying upon Henry to make one miraculous save after another. Henry is amazing and it worked this game, but allowing that kind of pressure for long stretches is not a winning strategy over the long run, IMO.

2-the Marty StL trade was HUGE, it is obvious he is doing things out there that Callahan, while a stand-up guy and generally a good player, simply could not do - that pass to Richards from behind the net tonight was superb.

3-BEAT Boston, now that is a team I've come to dislike, their style is bad for hockey and Lucic is a gorilla who is starting to make me think he should have been banned after that Dekeyser nonsense. If you end up playing the Bruins, you'll need to deal with a number of cheap shots that will make Malkin and the pens look like Lady Byng winners.

Good luck in the next round.

The hockey gods were with him on that one.

I'll take Conf finals over 2014 pick. It'll be a late round pick anyway.

I think our pick was speculated to be Josh Hosang... Some who kNows who...

But anyway..

LGR!!! what a win! Hank standing tall and the defense playing lights out... I don't Crosby was even a factor in the last 3 games (Malkin a different story)... Bylsma is sure to be fired, and shero is a Pejorative Slur (PR a blessing?) if he does not fire him...

That was awesome!

Yup.

Richards scored a huge goal that mattered. I'd hate to see him go because of the poor contract. He knows when the game is on the line, and the guy knows how to put the puck in the net when it counts.

He is the polar opposite of Rick Nash.

Dear god... How pathetic is it to say that right? At this point I would gamble on keeping Richards and convincing the NHL to let us stretch the cap hit penalty over double the time, followed by trading Rick "I cannot score a ****ing goal" Nash...

Now THAT'S a playoff choker
