They need to clean up the turnovers and giveaways. There were tons even when they were dominating on the ice 1st and 2nd period.

This was his first game completely. He had no preseason. His fitness/conditioning must be really bad right now particularly after that illness.

I'm not going to dump too much on the Sabres because it's only one game, but the whole vibe of the post-game show has been "awww shit, here we go again"
They didn't, but they did have a few very dangerous chances that they generated from almost nothing. Thinking of that one where Jack found Bratt down low and Jesper just didn't finish. Even when these guys are off they're dangerous.

No matter how one may feel about Bastian, I think we should all at least be happy that it's Bastian and not the guy who I don't think ANYBODY wants playing.
Then again, is he a LW? Or did they play him at RW last year? I know he's played defense at certain points in his career too.
Everybody knows who I'm talking about.
Also -for the first game, very limited reps, new coach and system that was a fairly clean game.

Definitely felt weird to be playing ahead for once, rather than spotting the other team a 1-0 lead 10 minutes before puck drop like we usually do.

Luke coming to lower Dillon’s minutes will help but I’m also just not a fan of a Dillon-Dougie pair. I honestly don’t think the upside of that line is incredible. I think the upside of them on separate lines is what’s incredible.

Dougie should be moved on from summer 2026. Siegs is already a great partner for Dougie. They’ve had great success together

Seriously though, some of you need to get a grip. First it was prognosticating based on a bunch of meaningless games. Now we’re pretending that despite a good win, score effects is not a thing. If the roles were reversed, we’d be saying that the second half of the game was garbage time.

What a whale of a game for the Hischier line. Nico looked all the bit a Selke candidate out there. Always in the right spot. Loved Mercer too. He looks motivated to bounce back.
I don’t think they keep that pair when he returns IMO. They knew about Luke’s injury way before we did and this is the backup plan.
Yeah, I know that's your opinion. I was just more thinking if you could take Silayev '26 and just magically plop him on this team he'd be the perfect partner.
