There were 30 really good minutes and 30 pretty poor minutes. Hopefully 20 of those poor 30 minutes were just them going into too much of a shell protecting a multi goal lead

Didn’t like that third but Markstrom was a beauty. Dougie is fine. Jack hopefully warms up. Tatar and Nico and Mercer looked great. Kovy was solid.

Refs can f*** off.

1st line needs to get going, third period was bad but obviously about trying to shut down the game. I liked a lot of what I saw by and large.

Casey looks like an NHLer, if they can find 45+ NHL games for him this year I'm totally fine keeping him up to learn the ropes until he gives them a reason to send him down. Might even be part of some 7D lineups if the forwards get decimated.

Lot to love about this game

1. Markstrom - Simply fantastic
2. The other newcomers. Kovacevic, Cotter, Noesen, Tatar and Dillon played great.
3. The young defensemen. Casey looked good and Nemec looked like a 10 year pro.
4. Jack, Bratt and Nico looked great.
5. Hamilton is back.
6. Defense as a whole was super solid. Not many high danger chances allowed. Penalty Kill was great.

Not much bad too say. Maybe too many penalties.

It felt very much like a shell. Even when the Sabres made it 3-1 I never really felt worried after that. Defenders boxed out the front of the net and didn’t give the Sabres anything in tight. Sabres have all kinds of weapons so I’m very happy how they defended down 2 top 4 guys

The good:
Markstrom
Siegs and Mercer look like 2 years ago not last year.
Casey is ready to go

The bad:
Penalties (many soft calls I agree)
Dillion struggled playing up, will be fine when we are healthy.
Timo/Jack still not clicking. Not convinced it ever will, just think they are both too puck dominant.
