Yeah this one has all the signs of a bounce-back game where the guys who just got their asses beat come out angry and take it to you and generally look like a completely different squad.

Upside for the Canes is they have a chance to start burying the Lightning a bit. One win can make a big difference...

If we win
1. CAR 17 games, 27 points
2. FLA 16 games, 24 points
3. CHI 19 games, 22 points
4. TBL 17 games, 21 points

If we lose
1. CAR 17 games, 25 points
2. FLA 16 games, 24 points
3. TBL 17 games, 23 points
4. CHI 19 games, 22 points

If they can power through and get a tough W, expanding to a 6-point lead instead of a 2-point lead would make a world of difference in a 56-game season.
I hope we come out with another solid 60 minute effort. As all our games are swing games, it is important that the proverbial foot on the neck early in this game.

interesting we are giving Gardiner another rest day. Good strategy though.

I would not be shocked if there's a minor injury, maybe a slight groin pull or something of the like, that's not being disclosed by the team. Hence why you're not hearing disgruntled player rumors spreading on Twitter, a la Erik Haula.

So true. While no one loss is going to derail this season I do think every game this year is essentially a playoff game. If we take 8 or so points off of most of the teams in the division we should be in good shape, and we're halfway there against Tampa

I hope (and trust, maybe?) that the messaging from veterans in this game is similar to what we heard from the vets in tight playoff games played on the road: if you can weather the storm in the first period, you'll give yourself a shot at winning the game.

Further, if Tampa can't assert dominance in this game, it just might play itself into a big mental advantage going forward.

Myth: Lightning never strikes in one place twice. Fact: Actually, lightning can, and often does, strike the same place repeatedly — especially if it's a tall and isolated object. For example, the Empire State Building is hit about 25 times per year.

Don't be like the Empire State Building.

Good for the Leafs to stay on top in terms of point %. I'm still innately skeptical of them, just because of their division being not-great defensively-speaking.

The North division is hot watery trash soup. Ottawa is terrible. Vancouver is very bad. Calgary is not good. MTL, WPG, and EDM are meh. If they were in other divisions they would be battling for the 4th playoff spot at best. None of those teams are better than the following...

Central - CAR, FLA, TB
East - BOS WAS, NYI
West - VGK, COL, STL

You could argue there's more teams in those divisions they are worse than as well. The Leafs are tenderizing meat over in that division and also, it's TSN so yeah, let's pump the Leafs hype train as much as possible.

Now having said that, Toronto can only play the games it can play against the teams on their schedule and they've played well so if you want to put them #1, then go for it. In the end though, I think we all know what's going to happen in the playoffs which is all that matters.

I expect an angry Lightning team with Vas in goal.

does the 2nd road game blues affect the Lightning or do they come out flying because they need a win?

Do we get Reimer or Ned? Skjei going to get a rest game? Someone else getting a rest game?

Svech needs to stay with Aho. Im here for the lines.

Go with Ned imo. Canes should be done with Reimer. Sink or swim with Ned to see if he can be a NHL back up or 1b next year or neither.
